T3ED 4.6.0 (438)
Description
The Need For Speed 3 / 4 Track Editor (used to modify . frd files)
New in Version 4.6.0 (438):
- Merging blocks now possible. Select the first one, press the Merge/Split button, and it will be merged with the following.
- QFS writing support. Textures can be exported, imported/replaced, and added directly in T3ED. Export will be done as Portable Network Graphics (.png). Import can be done as .png or .bmp (Windows Bitmap). Be sure you have a backup of your .qfs file before using it.
- Trackview as been completly rewritten:
* It now uses OpenGL instaed of the old deprecated Direct3D Retained Mode. Now more d3drm.dll and workarounds needed. I tested it on WinXP, Win7, Win10 & Win11.
* Trackview now uses the shading information. That means you see shadows like in the game. It looks much better.
* Several alpha chanel views have been fixed. Tranparency should now work for all supported textures.
- Faster rendering in the main window with "DrawQuad" instead of "MoveTo" "LineTo" commands.

Finally! Shadows in the 3d preview! This will save so much time going forward. Making changes to the shading values, saving the Trnd, booting up the game and driving to a particular track location just to see the changes gets tiresome pretty quick.
Thank-you for another solid update!
oh sorry mistaked you for Jim
Actually, not everything is my own work. The qfs processing is largely based on the FSH Tool. The new Trackview was created using Vibe Coding. It’s not quite as easy with the old VC6 code, but it works if you take it in small steps at a time.
