Description

I've made a complete documentation of which parameter does what. There are many different carp.txt tutorials, but many don't have explanations for all parameters which have a function like Brake blip to RPM for example. On the other hand, my documentation doesn't feature explanations for parameters which don't seem to have any effect. For this, have a look at the old documentations/tutorials.

Old description:

So (for me) it turns out that there are dozens of carp.txt values/parameters which don't affect the car's handling in any way when you change them.

It was always clear for me that there are some values which don't have a function in the game, but today i realized how MUCH there are.

So what i basically did (thanks to rata536) was making a usual replay, but i took 3 laps for a higher chance to let the replay desync, and the properties of the replay are:

1st lap: perfect run

2nd lap: very special crash on a tree where i loose both of the rear view mirrors

3rd lap: again very special crash where i hit a tree just by millimeters, so when desyncing i certainly won't hit it like with original carp.txt

With this kind of testing, one can be absolutely sure that the testing is legit, so that i don't tell you for example that the wheel base does absolutely nothing while in fact it does something to the handling (only an example, but the wheel base doesn't do anything indeed).

So, in what way can serial no. change affect AI selection?

I'm not quite sure, it actually has to be the same as in fedata, but i can tell you that car classification is some sort of serial number for performance selection, so if the CLK-GTR has car classification of 0 and the SLK-230 has car classification of 3, usually if you race with a SLK-230, the CLK-GTR most probably wouldn't be picked for the AI, even if it was on class B

So why did they pack so much bloat into them then? I'm guessing they had plans to one day make NFS HighStakes have more features.

I still believe to this day that with the 4.5 patch, many parameters would get useless, for example "Top speed (m/s)" would have been displayed the speed on the gauges, but now, "Maximum Velocity (m/s)" does. There's an old carp.txt tutorial that indicates this

TsTg has found out that "Top speed (m/s)" parameter is overwritten by the game code and set to the same value as "Maximum velocity (m/s)" parameter as soon as you enter the race. With Cheat Engine you can force "Top speed (m/s)" to a value like 1000 so you can always see how much the car is actually going, even if you go beyond the "Maximum velocity (m/s)" value

Looks like a lot of time was put into this.

The discription and screenshots show us the unused parameters. What extra gives us the download?

There are a lot of lists to make about nfs4 b.t.w.

    -unused parameters in fedata.

    -unused .mnu files.

-what does F563.qfs do in data/vidwall?

The download is just the same as you can see in here. But it is more concrete. It's for offline use if you will :P

About the other stuff i can't tell you, i just tried to extract f563.qfs, not working.

EDIT: Yeah i spent about a whole evening + morning afterwards
