Description

Plugin for random road block replacement after every race. Written by Gemini

There's 2 folders in the main folder called "RandomHayBale" and "RandomMedian". Put any subfolder in these and place files into it, typically median.art, median.fce, haybale.art and haybale.fce. After a race, a random subfolder will be chosen to take the files from and WiLL place them into Data/GameArt. Luckily, NFS High Stakes doesn't always load those files into memory making them read-only, but instead, it only loads them when starting a race. That means you can exchange/replace these files while being in the menus. That enables us to write a plugin which randomly replaces these files at runtime. Pretty lucky!!

This plugin uses MinHook. It's necessary for other plugins doing similiar stuff not to get incompatible with each other. So all previous plugins i've posted here also work in combination with this plugin

Changelog

  • Version 1.1 uploaded October 1, 2026

pete9516 uploaded a new version. The new file is 14.5 MB.

    - RandomHaybale/RandomMedian folders are now located in Data/GameArt
    - Only randomizes when the last track to be loaded inside the log is not the same as the currently being loaded track. This makes viewing replays possible without desyncing directly after saving it. Don't load another track within that phase
  • Initial version uploaded September 24, 2026

Google Gemini, pete9516 uploaded initial version. The original file is 14.5 MB.

Oh, that's cool. I thought that was hardcoded in the exe.

Well yeah, all i did was Gemini to tell whenever there's a switch from race to menu, exchange the files. I think without reverse engineering, this is the only way to have multiple road blocks. What would be even cooler would be multiple different road blocks in 1 race, but this is the problem what you mean.
