Circuit to Knockout

Circuit to Knockout converts all 18 Circuit races in Career mode into Knockout races. Instead of completing a set number of laps, racers are eliminated one by one until only the winner remains. The mod also affects 10 Circuit races against bosses, which now use the Knockout format as well!

MOD FEATURES

• Modified Circuit races are set to 3 laps, like original Knockout races.
• Boss races are set to a single lap to suit their one-on-one format.

Traffic density options:

• High — Maximum Traffic in Every Race;
• Off — No Traffic in Any Race;
• Vanilla — Default Game Settings.

Three police options:

• Enabled — Cops in Every Race;
• Disabled — No Cops in Any Race;
• Vanilla — Default Game Settings.

The optional "Double_Knockout" script changes the elimination rules in Knockout races: two opponents are eliminated after each lap instead of one. It also adjusts the number of opponents and laps depending on the race.

Back up your game before installing any modifications.

1. Download and extract the mod archive to any convenient folder on your PC.

2. Run NFS-VltEd.exe (running as administrator is recommended).

3. Open the game: File -> Open, then indicate the root game folder.

4. Install the mod script:

• File -> Import -> ModScript;
• Select the "Circuit_to_Knockout.nfsms" file;
• Choose "Install Circuit to Knockout";
• Select your preferred traffic density;
• Select the police settings;
• Click "Install".

5. Be sure to save the changes: select File -> Save.

6. Done. Launch the game and enjoy!

After installing the main "Circuit_to_Knockout.nfsms" script, you can install the additional "Double_Knockout.nfsms" script. It changes the elimination rules in modified races: two opponents are eliminated after each lap instead of one. The script also adjusts the number of opponents and laps depending on the race.

• Select "Double_Knockout.nfsms" from the "Extra" folder.
• Choose "Install DoubleKO".
• Click "Install".

4. Save changes via File -> Save.

5. Done.

Note: the optional script works only after installing the main mod.

Choose one of the two options, depending on which scripts you have installed!

OPTION 1: Only the main mod is installed

1. Launch NFS-VltEd and open the game.

2. Import "Circuit_to_Knockout.nfsms".

3. Select "Uninstall Mod (Restore Vanilla)".

4. Click "Install".

5. Save changes via File -> Save.

6. Done.

OPTION 2: Both the main mod and the optional script are installed

1. Uninstall the optional script first:

• Import "Double_Knockout.nfsms";
• Select "Uninstall";
• Click "Install";
• Save changes via File -> Save.

2. Then uninstall the main mod:

• Import "Circuit_to_Knockout.nfsms";
• Select "Uninstall Mod (Restore Vanilla)";
• Click "Install";
• Save changes via File -> Save.

3. Done! Both scripts have been removed.

Uninstalling the mod is intended to restore the game’s original settings. If the Circuit race settings differed from the defaults before the mod was installed, restoring the original settings may also affect those changes. It is recommended to back up the files being modified before installation.
