Cel Shading Mod v 0.1

A graphics mod for NFS Most Wanted (2005) that gives all cars an anime look: flat paint with no gloss, hard light and shadow bands that move with the camera, and a thick black outline.
Only cars are affected. Roads and buildings stay as they are.
This is an AI slop mod: the code and the shader were written by an AI (Claude), with a human testing in-game and giving directions.
This is a work in progress. There may be bugs and this is not the final version.

Requirements

- NFS Most Wanted version 1.3.
- An ASI loader, such as Ultimate ASI Loader, installed as dinput8.dll in the game folder. If you already use .asi mods, you have one.
- A graphics card with Shader Model 3.0 support.

Installation

1. Extract the archive.

2. Copy the "scripts" folder into your NFS Most Wanted folder (the folder that contains speed.exe). If the game already has a "scripts" folder, merge them.

3. Start the game as usual.

To uninstall, delete CelShading.asi, CelShading.ini, CelShading.log (if it exists) and the CelShading folder from the game's "scripts" folder.

Settings

Brightness, shadow level, outline width and other settings are in scripts\CelShading.ini. Restart the game after changing them.

If the game loses speed, lower OutlineLayers in that file. Thin lines can show small gaps.

Known issues

- In-game testing was done at 2560x1440 only.
- Shadows on tires may flicker slightly while the wheels spin.
- Black and very dark cars show little difference between light and shadow.
- Glass, lights and decals get no outline.
