The Ferrari 488 was unveiled in 2015 to replace the 458. The 488 GTB uses a new 3.9 L (3,902 cc) twin-turbocharged Ferrari F154 V8 engine renamed to F154 CB specifically for use in the 488. The twin turbochargers are supplied by IHI/Honeywell and are parallel ball-bearing twin-scroll turbochargers paired with two air-to-air intercoolers. A low-density titanium aluminide alloy makes up the compressor wheels and reduces inertia and resists high temperatures within the turbocharger. The 488's name comes from having 488 cc per cylinder.

The Ferrari 488 GTB produces 661 hp (493 kW) at 8,000 rpm and 561 ft·lb (760 N·m) at 3,000 rpm, resulting in a specific power output of 169 hp (126 kW) per liter and a specific torque output of 144 ft·lb (195 N·m) per liter, both records for a Ferrari car. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch F1 automated manual gearbox manufactured for Ferrari by Getrag, based on the 458's gearbox. With a weight of 3412 lb (1548 kg), the 488 GTB has power-to-weight ratios of 427 hp (318 kW) per tonne or 5.16 lb (2.34 kg) per horsepower.

The 488 GTB uses improved carbon ceramic brakes, with derived technology from the LaFerrari, constructed with new materials that reduce the time needed to achieve optimum operating temperature. Disc sizes are 15.7 in (398 mm) at the front, and 14.2 in (360 mm) at the rear. These advancements reportedly reduce stopping distances by 9% over the 458. A new five-spoke alloy wheel was designed for the 488, measuring 20 in (51 cm) front and rear. Front tires measure 245/35 with rear tires 305/30.

Ferrari claims that the 488 GTB accelerates from standstill to 60 mph (97 km/h) in 2.9 seconds, 124 mph (200 km/h) in 8.3 seconds, a quarter mile (402 m) in 10.45 seconds, and a top speed in excess of 205 mph (330 km/h).

The 488 GTB was appeared in some games such as Driveclub, Assetto Corsa, CSR Racing 1 & 2 (but it uses an anniversary variant in CSR2), Forza Motorsport 6, 7 and 2023, Driving School Sim, NFS Heat and Unound, Racing Limits, The Grand Tour, Asphalt Nitro 2, Street Storm Racing and Legends, Forza Horizon 3, 4, 5 and 6. It visits a default garage from Drift Spirits as 13th car after Huracan Sterrato, and it was released 8 years ago in NFSAddons, while it's planned in a standalone Addon release outside of Ferrari ACP with a brand new XName (sometime in the future)
