General NFS, High Stakes

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to let everyone know what's going on here with NFSGarage. We'll be switching over to a brand new server within the next few weeks, just a little warning for you guys. The move should go pretty seamlessly and you won't even notice (except for a little surprise I might have for you guys ;) ). Also, I've noticed that the hits and downloads have really gone down the past few months. If you guys have any ideas that you want to see on the site, let me know and I'll try my best to implement them. Or if you have anything you don't like about the way the site is right now, feel free to email me those too. Your feedback will make the Garage better :)

My sugestions: Remove Vidwall section
Get Poll up
Have a random car pic.(something like at Racing central.)

Mike does the move to a new server mean a move outside of the Racerplanet network??

ohh and one idea i have is to get the HP and PU sections up

Open a NFS3,5,6 section on the same page instead of their own main page. It will show the sites trues size.

Nitro: Poll will be up soon, send in your poll ideas ;) I'll work on the other sections (NFS 3 etc). And by all on one page, do yo umena like NFSCars?

Wammy: We'll still be with Racerplanet. The whole network will be moving to better servers .Check out the forums for more info :)

I vote for some kind of random car thingy (with pic); I notice that when an old car is listed in Todays Top Downloads, it always attracts a few more downloads, as if visitors think: "hey, I didn't know that car existed"... ;-)

i think you should find some tracks and tools to add and I also would like to see a random car pic of the day.

oh yeah, this is just an idea, but it might be neat to have a downloadable car parts sectionfor the people who make cars for the game, afterall the site is called NFS garage. hehe

The poll could be: What is your favourite monthly automotive magazine. So you could have all the big US(CD, R%T Motortrend) Canada(Carguide) Australia(???), and Euro(Autocar,???) mags.

that's top secret. I will mark my return to the NFS scene with the 1975 BMW 3.0 CSL that ran in the 1975 12 hours of Sebring - Nick is texturing it now, and performance.

Mike - whaddya think of the projects section? was the unique item ( and SOTD )

Projects section might be making a return, I'll just need to work on some new admin scripts for it. SOTD will be coming back too, hopefully... and "Car of the Day" MIGHT be... might just be a "Car Of The Moment" though. We'll see.

I think that there should be an author section, like the car brands section. Cuz I know tht I've seen a lot of tight cars on this site and I've wanted to find more cars by the author, without searching through every car brand...

I know this is almost or maybe really impossible, but could there be a comment or insert saying that uploaded cars have really realistic specs or not? This is hard to do, I know, but only topspeed doesn't say anything about realistic gear ratio, and I guess some people really don't like cars that aren't natural. But those cars also need a place :-)

Oh, and I really like the site's design, the comment feature is great and helpful,
other peoples opinions are always interesting (as long as they're intelligent..)
I know you keep the great work up, but still I thank you for that, both Remko and Mike!

I'm taking all this into consideration :)

As for the more realistic car specs.. if somebody wanted to get those specs for cars and upload them, I could setup a seperate section for that (on the regular car info page though).. with gear rations etc.

Listen on off the main change you could make would be to extend the new car list to 10 visible links and a link for the top 50 newest cars listed on the site and the same for the most downloaded. This has been applied foe nfscars.com and the response has been very good. And try adding a car pic at the top and also pic of today from the game.

I think the car of the day is the best idea if your gonna start with anything. Because i've been to nfscars and lots of times when i look at there random car i usally like it. When the site fills up abit more here older cars will get buried in all the new ones and the car of the day would bring them back.

Is NFS Garage older the NFS Cars? If it is then maby you need to get more cars for High Stakes. NFS Cars has 1800+ for High Stakes and 400+ for Hot Pursuit. I know i dodnt usually find the car im looking for here so i go to NFS Cars and 90% of the time its there.

NFS Garage doesn't have as much cars now because of the Server crash.

and you do know that NFS Cars accepts like EVERY single thing that is uploaded

How about some NFS: Porsche Unleashed, and not these splatter paint cars, stuff like Sinan's 928 S4 or his RUF CTR, or eventually even my 5400 V8, though still working out the bugs...

I could turn the lights on the M5 to blue, send it to NFSCras and they would up loadit. Sander is to nice to all those crap Ricers.

In all fairness, we don't have any kind of quality filter for our uploads; it's open to everyone, just like NFSCars.
What bugs me is that most of the 'better' Car editors have stopped submitting their work as well, I have no idea why that is. :-/

That is because people get greedy and want to get as many dowloads on thier cars as possible so they go to NFS cars since its the biggest car site so far, i got some good cars ill upload here though in a few days.

If the server that we were on did not go down - things would be different.

From 50,000 pageviews per day down to about 6,000 is a big drop. And from...1400? cars? I think we were close to...down to just a bit over 300 is a big diffence too.

Really, it's not about 'quantity' - it's about 'quality'. You will see this very very soon...

is there anyway to get rid of that popup that brings up that download?? Cause i don't mind the others. it's just that one that bugs me. :o(

Mike, I dunno what it'd take, but do you remember the forum that NFS Works had?? that was really cool. I think something like that would be good for NFS Garage. By the way, I don't think anyone has said anything on the 'Off Topic' section in a while.

Im about 75% done with my latest car and as USUAl I will upload it here first!All I can say is its a Ferrari and its freekin fast!I think the site hits is a result of the summer-its hard to force yourself to avoid the nice weather!Things will pick up in the fall:)

i've been staying inside for alot of time. i do go outside but inside is so much cooler! hey and when they have smog warnings. and telly you to stay inside. well even more reason to!
