Yep, it happens every day. People take other people's cars, change something like the 'name of the car' and publish it as 'their car'. It happened just now with the 2002 Espace F1 that was just added. Lillo - claimed the car to be his...when JP Racing made the car, which is awesome :)
The car has been deleted, and we'll add the new one soon.
Here's a note to people who like to steal other cars, that aren't yours, and releasing them...
From now on, all cars that will appear here on the site, added and verified by ME, will be like this:
The Author of the car will be emailed, for 2 reasons: to see if the car is theirs, and to see if they want it here on the site.
If the author email address is invalid, the car will not make it to the site.
If the person who modifies a car, and wants it posted here -- do this:
INCLUDE the original email sent to the author requesting the modification, and approval for you to modify and publish the car. If we cannot verify the car is legit, it won't make it!
We have tried to stop this in the past, but now i'm taking higher steps to assure the quality and ownership of these cars - they take months to make, a lot of time, and nobody can take that from them.
If you see any car that you think should be checked, email us - we'll get to it asap.

hopefully it will all come to an end
But nobody care about.
but some webmaster who not are car designers not have a way to discover steal cars, because they not are really inside the comunity (for example nfsdesign, nfscars, etc) they are webmasters only, don't know about authors or cars. That explain why these sites has a highly number of stolen /modified cars.
Was really imposible know a stupid newbie simply change the name and upload,
Ovbiusly these guy Lille is a newbie because don't know about all the webmaster and most of the people in the nfs comunity know me.
And not have idea who im.
Also, the first 2002 Espace - this kid actually used his name in the 'Author' section - I had to edit it after I added it to the site - his name was there originally -- but both email addresses are invalid.
i mean i know it would be a long, long list of cars, but it would be worth it.....
Wammy
As for all this, that sounds like a very good plan. I will start doing the same. Obviously all car theives will enver be stopped, but we will try our best.
And if anybody out there notices a car that they think might be stolen, feel free to contact me or Jeff, and we will investigate. Perhaps we should start an NFS P.I service ;)
just involes some Hex Editing :)
time ago somebody release a unlock guide, i don't know who was,
but if sometime i discover who was.....
guys lets go to open a thread in the forum for follow talking about all this,is better.
all i can say is - i try - :D
About locking cars, I agree. My next car will be locked. I don't know how to and I don't wanna know, I'll just ask someone reliable to lock my car, maybe JP, and I'll post it only in reliable sites like this one.
there has to be another way portuguese.
Also, here's another email address to a car thief - who posted the Porsche 964 Carrera Cabrio 4 : leonardofernandez@terra.cl - Leonardo Fernandez
