Description :

Very little is known about the German built Lotec C1000, but what is know is this. The C1000 was originally conceived in 1994

with construction completed in 1995 for a United Arab Emirates citizen who desired to own the fastest, individually owned

car in the world. Mercedes-powered and the body designed by Lotec, the C1000 is a one-of-a-kind car with only one or possibly

two being built.

The design and engineering of the car cost over $1 million, and the actual construction of the car cost $1.2 million.

The "C" in C1000 stands for carbon fiber, for example, the entire chassis and bodywork was made from carbon fibre. The

number "1000" stands for a thousand and one percent and nearly 1000 horsepower.

The exterior of the Lotec C1000 is quite unlike any other supercar and this can be attributed to the designer being an

architect rather than a recognised automobile stylist. Hendrik Muller-Kunast was able to approach the design of the car

without any preconcieved ideas or concepts on what is deemed to be politically correct in Automobile design.

The rear of the car has the exhausts encapsulated into the bodywork just above the two venturi channels on each side of the

gearbox which act as a vacuum and assist in rear downforce. A principle used in many tri-hull boats. The car also houses a

rear mounted camera that is found in the central rear wing support that gives the driver a clear view of the background.

The car also features electronic height controll, rain sensors that reduce turbo boost in wet conditions, an automatic

fire extinguisher systm that covers the entire car, and the almighty Mercedes 5.6L Garret Twin Turbocharged V8 powerplant

that produces a healthy 850hp @ 6200rpm.
