GTV stands for 'Gran Turismo Veloce'. Together with its Spider counterpart they were Alfa's sports cars from 1993 to 2004. It won multiple awards in 1995 while Jeremy Clarkson described it as 'one of the best sports car of it's time' in 1998. It was listed as number 29 in the Top 100 cars list of 2001.
