Description

'70 VolksWagen-Porsche Tapiro (914/6)

VW-Porsche Tapiro was designed by Giorgio Giugiaro of ItalDesign. VW-Porsche 914/6 chassis was used for the car.
Tapiro was first introduced at Turin Motor Show in 1970. Then it was shown at Auto Expo in LA USA in 1971.
Soon after that Tapiro was sold to one Spanish industrialist.
The car was blown up by labor activists who was protesting against policies of car owner.
Burnt shell of the car was repurchased by ItalDesign and then exhibited at ItalDesign's museum.

Tapiro was powered by Bonomelli tuned Porsche flat-6 2.4L engine which produced 220 HP at 7200 rpm.
5-speed gearbox was used, and 152 mph is clamed to be top speed in fifth gear.

Only one car was produced ever.
However Tapiro got several upgrades after Turin Motor Show: new wheels and new wipers configuration.
Just before or soon after '71 Auto Expo the car got a new instrumental panel.

Car in this package is Tapiro as it was shown at Turin Motor Show in 1970.
