Rockport FX Packs

Timecycle Preset Collections for Rockport FX

Need for Speed: Most Wanted (2005)

Important Compatibility Note

These packs containonly High Visual Treatment lighting data (sunny,dusk_sunny,overcast,dusk_overcast).

The Low Visual Treatment (no_VT) states (0xa01a3942,0x0e1c797c,0x94abdff0,0x919b6689) arenot included as per Rockport FX mod guidelines.

If you toggleVisual Treatment = Low in the game's video options, lighting will revert to the mod's internal fallback or vanilla defaults. For full preset accuracy, keepVisual Treatment = High.

Overview

Rockport FX Packs are readyโ€‘toโ€‘use.nfsms preset collections for CiPHER's Rockport FX mod. Each pack replaces the game's timecycle lighting with a distinct visual identity โ€“ from the original PC vanilla look, to realistic overhauls, to beta development builds, to classic console aesthetics.

All packs include four weather states (sunny,dusk_sunny,overcast,dusk_overcast) usingHigh Visual Treatment values only.

Included Packs

๐ŸŽจ Vanilla PC Timecycle

Exactly the original Need for Speed: Most Wanted (2005) lighting as shipped on PC. Faithfully recreates Black Box's intended look.

Replicates the distinct look of the Xbox 360 port โ€“ darker shadows, higher contrast, and different bloom handling.

Key differences from PC vanilla:

  • Sunny diffuse dimmer:0.60, 0.48, 0.22 (vs PC1.00, 0.80, 0.30)

  • Sunny specular much brighter:0.58, 0.52, 0.41 (vs PC0.32, 0.28, 0.22)

  • Bloom curves adjusted: BlackBloomCurve nodes0.15, 0.35, 0.98, 1.00 (PC:0.00, 0.17, 1.12, 1.00) โ€“ smoother shadow rollโ€‘off

Best for: Nostalgia, consoleโ€‘accurate replays, or a moodier, higherโ€‘contrast Rockport.

๐Ÿ†• Beta Visuals Collection

Five historically-inspired presets recreating the look of unreleased or early development builds of Need for Speed: Most Wanted (2005).

๐ŸŽฌ Beta โ€“ E3 Demo (2005 Trailer)

Recreates the cinematic, high-contrast lighting shown in the E3 2005 reveal trailer. Darker and more dramatic than the final release.

Key characteristics:

  • Darker environment โ€“ 30% less diffuse light than default PC

  • Brighter car reflections โ€“ Specular up to 70% brighter

  • Denser fog โ€“ FogDistanceScale reduced to 3.50

  • Warmer bloom tint โ€“ Golden/amber color grading

  • More desaturated โ€“ 60% desaturation vs default 50%

  • E3-style bloom curves โ€“ Highlight-peaked bloom behavior

Weather-specific notes:

  • Sunny: Dramatically darker ambient, brighter specular reflections

  • Dusk: Heavy red/orange atmosphere with dense fog

  • Overcast: Extremely dark diffuse (0.03, 0.04, 0.05) โ€“ stormy mood

Best for: Players who want the cinematic "trailer look" that was never officially released.

๐Ÿ”ง Beta โ€“ Early NextGen (General)

Represents a transitional development build with experimental neutral-gray lighting and unique sky rendering.

Key characteristics:

  • Drastically dimmer sunlight โ€“ 55% darker than default PC

  • Neutral gray haze โ€“ No warm/cool color bias (0.22, 0.22, 0.22)

  • Almost black sky fog โ€“ FogSkyColour at0.00, 0.067, 0.169

  • Pure red/black sunsets โ€“ No blue channel in any dusk parameter

  • Matches E3 Demo overcast โ€“ Consistent stormy weather lighting

Weather-specific notes:

  • Sunny: Extremely dark, desaturated, almost twilight-like

  • Dusk: Blood-red sunset with no blue contribution

  • Overcast/Dusk Overcast: Identical to E3 Demo values

Best for: Curiosity seekers and preservationists wanting to see an experimental development build.

๐ŸŽฎ Beta โ€“ Early NextGen (Xbox360)

Recreates a late Xbox360 development build with optimized console lighting โ€“ dark, foggy, but with punchier car reflections.

Key characteristics:

  • Darker environment โ€“ 43% less diffuse light than default

  • Brightest car reflections โ€“ Specular 52% brighter + CarSpecScale 1.20

  • Densest fog of all presets โ€“ FogDistanceScale 1.50 in sunny

  • E3 Demo bloom curves โ€“ Shared with the trailer build

  • Cooler bloom tint โ€“ Slightly more blue/green than default

  • Unique dusk balance โ€“ Less extreme than General preset

Weather-specific notes:

  • Sunny: Moody with highly reflective cars

  • Dusk: Subtle, balanced sunset (not pure red)

  • Overcast: Darkest and foggiest of all presets (FogDistanceScale 4.00 vs default 10.00)

Best for: Console beta enthusiasts and players who want the "lost" Xbox360 development look.

๐Ÿ’ฟ Beta โ€“ OPM Demo (Official PlayStation Magazine)

Based on the OPM demo disc build โ€“ features incomplete/placeholder lighting with no specular reflections.

Key characteristics:

  • Zero specular reflections โ€“ All SpecularColour values at0.000 (cars appear matte/flat)

  • Neutral gray diffuse lighting โ€“ Grayscale color temperature in most states

  • Red sky fog at dusk โ€“ FogSkyColour1.00, 0.192, 0.00 with blue horizon haze

  • Extreme fog density โ€“ FogDistanceScale1.00 in sunny/dusk

  • No fog haze in overcast โ€“ FogHazeColourScale0.000

  • Strongest bloom โ€“ ColourBloomIntensity2.25 (28.5% stronger than default)

Weather-specific notes:

  • Sunny: Flat, gray, foggy โ€“ almost like developer debugging mode

  • Dusk: Bizarre red/blue sky separation (unintentional or demo limitation)

  • Overcast: Completely flat gray with no atmospheric effects

Best for: Historical accuracy, demo disc preservation, or experiencing a truly unique "broken" lighting setup.

๐Ÿ–ฅ๏ธ Beta โ€“ PC Beta (Late Development)

Represents a late-stage PC beta build โ€“ the "missing link" between Xbox360 beta and final PC release. Features the clearest distance visibility of any preset.

Key characteristics:

  • Darker than final โ€“ 47% less diffuse light than default PC

  • Clearest distance fog โ€“ FogDistanceScale8.00 (2x further than default)

  • Strongest haze color โ€“ FogHazeColourScale1.50 (15x default intensity)

  • Coolest bloom tint โ€“ ColourBloomTint0.85, 0.775, 0.250 (dramatically shifted toward blue/purple)

  • E3/Xbox360 bloom curves โ€“ Consistent with late betas

  • Brighter overcast sky fog โ€“ Unique "heavy overcast but sky peeking through" effect

Weather-specific notes:

  • Sunny: Dark, clear distance, strong atmospheric haze

  • Dusk: Very close to default but with darker ambient

  • Overcast: Darker overall but with brighter, bluer sky fog

Best for: Players who want a "what if" look โ€“ what the final game might have been with a different artistic direction.
