  Is this an official track version of the 924? I don't know enough about these cars to know if they were raced, to be honest.

  Yep, they were raced. This is the Porsche 933, better known as 924 D-Production, raced in the SCCA series. Equiped with the 2.0l engine but cooked up to 180 hp instead of 125 and drastically weight reduced. Had one of the most complicated mechanic fuel injections, the Kugelfischer.
