Your do remember correctly. Addict worked on a PU->NFSHS converter as well that made it possible to convert cars. Not sure that one was ever released publicly. A product of that was the first ever converted car, the Porsche 930 Turbo for NFSHS by your's truly.
959 Longnose was an important proof of concept for a committed modding scene. Not easy to find but thankfully now hosted on NFSAddons.
edit: looks like I remembered it wrong in that the 911 conversion was one the first, but not the first. cheers
