I like this car, is very beatiful, quite low-poly, but i only play with damage.
Repeate, it's my opinion.
now you wonder why half the modelers aren't around anymore -- it's cause someone can convert from NFS7-9 and suddenly they're a hero.
- The main reason why I converted the Corvette is that I've had Dan's car in my list for a long time and didn't feel it was on par with most of the user-made cars I downloaded. Since Dan's Vette was the only one available and XenTek's conversion didn't have all the necessary features, I decided to give people another option, which would hopefully be more attractive. If the car is already modeled in a high quality standard, I won't see the need for a conversion (which is the case with VSO's Gallardo, Dan's Camaro, TwIsTiD's 350Z and so on);
- As far as I'm concerned, you cannot run a full grid of those MW Corvettes in Career Mode, therefore the lack of upgrades is perfectly excusable. I could have made them (well, one can always use the MW bodykits...), but I chose not to since it would do more harm than good to those people who play primarily for fun;
- I don't like damage. It's a preference of mine;
- I don't make dashes because those add up to the total polygon count rendered by the game in a race. For me, it's much more important to be able to race against as many opponents as possible whilst still maintaining a reasonable level of accuracy in the models I convert than to be able to use the dash view camera. I value detail, but not to the point it subtracts from the enjoyment of the game. Otherwise, I'd convert those massively high-poly level-"a" meshes instead;
- My Corvette has custom sounds, which Dan's doesn't;
- From an OBJECTIVE point of view (notice I capitalised the word "objective"), Dan's model is inaccurate. Moreover, his modeling and texturing skills were still rough at the time he built his car (I remember he also made several Vipers as well, for which there were several references since the Viper is an older car, and all of his versions were surpassed by Venom's and viper_gts' cars). If someone (whoever he/she is) converts a more accurate model from whatever source and puts effort on ensuring the conversion will have a high level of refinement (like I did, and you can't deny that), the converted car will be better overall;
- Merit alone does not make a good product. Often will companies spend many resources and years on the development of a product, only for it to become a complete failure, for various reasons (sometimes it's even a matter of taste);
- Criticising the converter for playing up his converted mesh means ignoring that whoever built the car in the first place has also worked hard on it. You're acting as though EA's work is irrelevant and doesn't demand many hours of dedication from the people who work there;
- The time difference between the releases is about 3 and a half years. After so long, you'd expect someone to come up with a better model, be it created from scratch or converted;
- HSVDrifter never insulted Dan's car. He merely stated his opinion regarding it. "Unrealistic" doesn't sound offensive to me;
- People have moved away from NFS because of the games not providing adequate conditions for them (moddability, enjoyment, absence of graphical limitations), not because they felt their talent wasn't being recognised by the community. Right now only a few modelers are making more recent cars for NFS4 (by more recent I mean 2005 onwards), and not always are these cars what we want to see in the game. If we wish to play with a car in NFS, we are, most of the time, forced to resort to converting, since these cars are otherwise unavailable to us;
- If it wasn't for converters, there would be very few addon cars for MW. Enough said. Just because the work of a converter is mostly technical, it doesn't mean it's unimportant or easy to do. Designers create the car's shape, but the car itself would never exist if it weren't for the assembly lines.
- I don't like damage. It's a preference of mine;
I like a lot damage, its a preference of mine ;). I can run a lot of race games have no damage with very detailed cars and no an old game as NFS:RC. ;)
I prefer less details and damage :D
this here is a conversion, it doesnt count shit, whatever you put in, there is no way in saying "good work"...converting is nothing special.
dan modelled his thing in a week without ressources, > that shows REAL skills, one of the reasons why hes one of the best modellers of the F-Body Faction.
- all the time venom and me were competing who's better...we didnt see that Dan would actually smoke us...if he wants to.
i can honestly say i never ever downloaded or played with a conversion, except if you count that you can download my Cuda/GNX for like 10 games now...

Come on guys... Stop behaving like little children! It doesn´t count wich one´s car is better or if a car is converted or scatchmade -
EVERY NEW CAR FOR NFS4 IS APPRECIATED!!!
Of course it is more work to make a car from scratch... Dan´s Corvette was a masterpiece in 2003 and it is still a great car - especially because he worked with almost no refference pics...
But you can´t deny that the guys from EA did a great job on doing very nice and accurate meshes but put them in very poor games!!! It would be a shame not to put them in NFS4 and therefore Zpectre´s work is highly appreciated!!!
And you can´t deny that the EA-mesh is much more accurate (and "cleaner") than Dan´s so this one IS THE BEST Corvette C6 for NFS4!
And it is a lot of work to do a very good conversion - You can mess up a lot of things!!! There are a lot of very bad MW-conversions around here but Zpectre always does a great job... You have to take care of the parts, the normals, the scale, etc... you have to mix colors, fit a driver, make the movable parts work, make a nice performance file, the dummies and maybe a new sound... It IS WORK! So please stop goofing on him!
I love every conversion Zpectre releases and I am very happy for everythink that keeps NFS4 alive.
AND... this one gave Dan the "impulse" to work again and to make his Corvette better so EVERYONE must be happy now even the conversion-haters! - Although I don´t understand why he "wastes" his talent on doing the same car again intead of doing something new
@ Zpectre: Please don´t stop converting cars because of something like this discussion...
@ F Body Faction:
"
now you wonder why half the modelers aren't around anymore..." - No! They left because of people like you flamming everybody for everything.
If you fuck with DanR, I will fuck you up.
With that being said, I depart.
wow... MSFT.... :D
