    It's the PSX version...

    It's a pity the PSX game was created by the more talented designers. The graphics engine is way worse, but the content much better.

    Indeed, they were incredibly limited by the hardware... the PSOne had 34MHz CPU and 2MB of RAM.
    PC's were way ahead of this at the time.

    The PSX version had a more advanced engine than the PC version, I dare to say it was reused as the PC NFSPU engine (look at the wheel reflections, functional blinkers and textured license plates for evidence)

    @Freak-DS: just kidding :)

    Yeah, they finally decided to escape the PS1 limitations, advancing the engine to use for the NFS Porsche PC version. Unfortunately the limited AI (which can only drive on different "rails") remained.

    The car modelling of the PSX version is way better as the PC (Just compare the 911...) Always surprised me how HS could look so beautiful in PSX: colors, fog, ambience... and the physics are in another level. Its a master piece.

    I agree with AJ, NFSPU on PC feels very similar to NFSHS from PSX!

    @ AJ:
    Textured license plates? HP already had custom plates...
    Wheel reflections are for some reason disabled on wheels in HS, wouldn't necessarily call that an engine limitation, just a flag for parts with certain names. And wild lights aren't necessarily an indicator for a better engine, either, as they are just extra polygons showing up which do not receive any shading besides the diffuse layer. Can't get simpler than that (except for solid colors).

    What I was referring to is probably only visible in motion. The constant kinda 'morphing' of the track due to buffer limitations and a resulting unsteady and unclean look. Just look at the ground in this shot, not a single straight line there.
