Description

Vivianne is an all-in-one NFS3 modding tool that supports editing:

  • VIV files: Can add new files, new from predefined templates, rename, remove and export files
  • FSH textures (without palette support for now): Can add new entries, replace textures with new ones, import/export image footer data separately
  • Preview TGA textures (No write support at the moment, might implement it later)
  • Car dashboard editor for NFS3 DASH.QFS
  • FeData (both NFS3 and NFS4 formats supported): Previews colors directly from FCE file, allows for editing all unknown values (even unsupported ones)
  • Carp.txt (NFS3 and NFS4 variants supported): Can calculate estimated performance metrics, allows for editing all carp values (even unsupported ones)
  • BNK sound editor (uncompressed PCM only): Support for alternate audio streams, can edit and preview audio loop data, .WAV import/export, can change BNK file version
  • FCE (only for NFS3 at the moment): Preview model with texture and color, quality presets for ease of viewing, calculates car shadow from model bounding box, can edit colors, can center model, can rename parts and dummies (dummies are not being rendered right now, might come in the future)

It can open some files directly, such as FSH/QFS and FCE models.


It includes a few tools: FCE4/FCE4M to FCE3 converter and a serial number analyzer (NFS3 only). It also includes a process monitor when launching NFS3 from within Vivianne.


Please note that this is a beta application. While it can be used to create mods, I cannot guarantee (as of right now) that it won't damage any files. Please, make backups of every file to intend to modify with Vivianne.

    ## Known bugs:
    - The process monitor presents the incorrect RAM consumed by the game, sometimes wrong by an order of magnitude.
    - MCO files are not quite valid *per the specs*, as there is no copy of the undamaged vertex table just yet. Proper loading of edited FCE models in Vivianne hasn't been tested yet, but... may work?
    - FeData editors still not detecting file changes (can still save files using the "Save As" button)
    - Visual styles migth be partially broken on older operating systems, or when using light theme (can be worked around with theme button on the titlebar)
    - FCE4M files from MCO may get partially broken textures. I'm investigating.
    - Some FSH files from MCO are not being properly read yet due to their use of an unknown (or maybe compressed?) pixel format. I'm investigating.
    - Small general rendering issues on the application (labels on the textboxes and other form controls), should not affect usage, and will go away after interacting with the window.

    - Window backdrop on operating systems other than Windows 11 (partially fixed, might require some work still)
    - Fixed several issues related to FeData files (both Fedata3 and FeData4)
    - Fixed the data model of FeData4 files (missing fields, old NFSWizard misinterpretation of bit-fields)

    Known issues:
    - The "Save" button in the FeData editors does not activate on file changes (Workaround: just use the "Save as" button with the same file name)
    - Window backdrops might still behave unpredictably on different versions of Windows
    - A few tooltips here and there are wrong.
    - Serial number analyzer is not getting the NFS3 path from the settings (will likely need to rework this tool when I bring up full support for NFS4)

      I recommend: ZModeler 1.07 B , CarCad, FCE Center, FCE Finish 2, and NFS Wizard for that.

    Awesome work, looks amazing - need to test this editor. Incredible to watch such a tool come alive these days.

    Tested:

    Well, functionality still need to be established. Most filetypes are not readable or get corrupted on saving. Everything feels very "Work in Progress".

    But i can totally see the potential, e.g. the BNK editor that currently is broken - fully functional would be way more effective and comfortable than any other editing tool available.

    First the corruption issues need to be fixed, UI can be tweaked after that (looks already great). Keep compatibility in mind as well, imo should make things more future proof too.

      It's not really needed since you can just load FCE formats into Blender thanks to bfut
