It's sooo sheaty Will didn't upload this corrected version of this track. I made an AI fix, but: 1) it's not ideal 2) his textures look better. I'll try to work a bit more, on it. Hmmm, and the yellow Porsche looks like Zpectre's GT2)
Since this is KleinHellerchen's "Norway" track there is pretty much nothing that has to be "corrected" by anyone. That's blasphemy!
And since Will's editing skills were not even close to KleinHellerchen's and his texture work was always a nightmare... he could have just messed up this masterpiece. So I am very happy that he did not upload a changed version without permission.. And you should neither.
Don't you miss the part about the virtual road. I remember fixing the polygon surfaces in the tunnels. They are snow/ice, But the texture is tarmac. So you put a road_surface. Next up is the speed files. They're original since he didn't have the necessary T3ED version from today. Means they have to be corrected for good bots. PolyVRoad is a total mess since it's the old way of calculation does when changing the track shape or something else on the polygons. Don't you know the little hill you have to pass right before the finish before the tunnel where you lift off even with slow ass cars? That also needs to get fixed. And what about the section with the barriers? Some type 6 extra objects there would be good or do you like driving through a hologram barrier which doesn't get broke when you slam it away? There's sooo many things to fix on any track mod which got made before 2020 or so!! Not talking about any visual stuff. Ofcourse he did a great job on that one, but visual treatment is not enough for a high quality track. Not nowadays with the awesome T3ED versions Jim has created
I don't like those words about Will neither tbh, he could build landmass, make new roads, animated objects and HD textures as well. Me i.e. almost can't handle the first two, if not three.
@Pete: Off course there is always something to improve... Nothing is perfect. And back in the day of 2007 the possibilities of editing tracks were pretty limited or much more "uncomfortable" than nowadays. So: ofcourse it is possible to improve even the best tracks and I am really not the one to judge who is worthy to do so and who is not. I would love to see a fixed version one day... I just don't like when someone is "messing around" with other peoples work without asking. In this case... It is impossible to do... so... go on. I just wanted to lift up KleinHellerchen's legacy a little too much, i guess.
@EvoX: I feel sorry for insulting Will's work. That was really not my intention. It's just that KleinHellerchen had quite a different approach in working on tracks... he was very obsessed with little details and polishing every corner to look perfect... And Will was another kind of artist. he had great ideas and was really capable of fulfilling... but he did not care much about polishing... there were always holes in the scenery and textures that did not blend because he did not care about the small things but his big ideas. That's why I did not want him to work on tracks that are that polished like "Norway"... that's all I wanted to say. I am terribly sorry for sounding like a dumbass :/
Thanks for your comment Cooya! But when somebody's messing-around is way better than the original (for example a virtual road fix for Norwegen or my fixed carp.txt's (don't want to sound haughty or arrogant here)) then it should be done nonetheless. Ofcourse if WiLL would change something to this track, it wouldn't be as good as the original (KH), due to the simple fact that Norwegen is indeed a visually finished track. But i'm still grateful for every track mod WiLL has created. Because even if they're not perfectly made due to the facts you've already mentioned, they are a perfect base for a virtual road fix since you don't have to fix so many visual stuff like i had to do with Town & Country for example
