I'm new to these NFS add-ons, so please bear with me. ;)

I'm having problems adding cars in Need For Speed High Stakes.

Can anyone give me a quick step by step tutorial on how to add cars? I've downloaded it, but I can't add the car in for some reason. :(

Thanks. :)

Hi nfsaddict123.What problems?any error message?Downloading is pretty straight forward.

Quick tip:  open the compressed file and examine, if it is there, the readme file or whatever it is called.  It will likely let you know what to call the folder for the car, elsewise you can usually make one yourself, with a 4 letter name.  Put the .viv file in that folder you created, then put go to your game folder, open the data folder and then open the car folder.  Copy the new folder you just made for the downloaded car into the cars folder.  Should work, barring other complications.

Yes, exactly this is needed.

Thanks for the quick responses guys. ^^

But occasionally the game crashes when I load one of the add-on cars. It's because I'm extracting it to the wrong folder, right?

Thanks again for your help!

Possibly.  But if the crash occurs in the garage screen, could it be the ram out of ran or whatever it is? You might need to get the high poly menu patch.  it fixes the reflections in the garage screen so that the car you load won't crash the game.  If it is an exception caught error, you likely have 2 cars with identical serial numbers; easy was to fix this is to grab a program like nfswizard so you can alter the .viv file, and change the serial number on the car in question, but unless you know what you are doing, I wouldn't reccomend fiddling around with the other stuff in the viv file.  For help with the other viv file stuff, someone here can help you if you are interested in that.  A program like Carmanager is a good grap too.  It lists all the nfshs cars in the cars folder and you can check off what ones you want to use that time, and if two cars have the same serial, you can deselect one, so the conflict is negated.  hope this helps.

The easiest way to add a mod car is to use the NFS HS Mixer Car Manager.
Download the Mixer from here:
http://tippinfs4corner.de/
on the tools page. It's German, but I can navigate okay even though I don't speak it.
Or you can get it on my website's downloads page:

For fixing serial number conflicts, I recommend using Serial Number Editor (SNE) which is also available for download on my website.

Hope this helps you,
