The Pics just dont seem too wanna Load all the way for Strange?
What other Cars you Gunna do. Looks nice by me Zpectre ;)
Let's have a better day...?

lol I was going to crash the M3 but the Porsche was more readily available for me... Anyway, what did you guys think? Does it look acceptable?

Nice sig Will. :bigthumb:

FerrariMan

I think the damage is more than acceptable
But if you're having trouble I can always (try to) make it myself... using CarCAD with a few custom touches ;)
I really like the concept of your mod, it's very similar to mine. Except I just had to reduce the polies on cars a lot so career mode works OK ;)
The cars themselves look AMAZING! :D

(so if you want a sample damage model, I can send you a .zip and let me know what you think)
I can't do any modeling and you're a WAY better car-maker than I am (I don't even compare) but the one thing I can do is damage so ... it's fun for me and I'd be happy to help :)

Remko

Good to see you working again. :)

I also think it looks more than acceptable. It certainly looks painful, which I think is the point of a damage model in the first place.    (I sometimes wonder: does creating a damage model make a car editor wince a little...?)
I like the things like the vent slats poking out, and the general asymmetry helps to make it look more natural.

Please don't use CarCAD, it makes the cars look like they're made of paper, it's better to make them yourself in ZModeler, at least with these cars. MW cars have TONS of vertices which are used for smoothing groups and if you create damage in CarCAD they're all moved to weird places.

Well if you offer to make damage for me, I can think about it... Just get a recent car of mine like the Murciélago or the SLR, smash it nicely then send it to me at levi[dot]davet[at]gmail[dot]com and I'll evaluate your work. It would really help me since I'm a bit short on time. Don't forget they have 3D bodylines pasted over the body so be careful when doing damage models of parts like doors, trunk, hoods... Try using same style as Nils since my cars are hollow shells, unlike those of Freak-DS.

I can't model shit as well, I just prepare the meshes for use in the game. Quite simlar to what you see the guys doing in TDU except that game is more complicated to work with. The models just happen to be better than most models made for HS, with some exceptions. I would do MW as well but that game is so modding-unfriendly I lose my will before I even start.

I was neglecting my cars as of late but I realized no one has made cars like Impreza except for me so I'm rethinking my philosophy. :D

Hollow shells? I'm doing hollow shells? :( LOL

@ Remko: I think there are people who really enjoy doing damage models *cough*Freak-DS*cough*. I just add them for a more complete release. And I don't wince while doing so but rather after totalling my car in GRID :D

Please don't be so upset with me, my friend! I don't like HS damage, too. Very annoying to hit a sign and have your car look like a total mess.

NOTE: I can use ZModeler (1) if you'd like, but when I meant CarCAD I still meant using custom damage. My most common for mid-poly cars (2500-6000) would be to do the crush/bend style myself in CarCAD and then, depending on how it looks, put some CarCAD generated damage over it. This can look really cool sometimes, check out the Caprice I made for FM Mod... I'll send it to you but I have problems with permissions so I can't distribute pieces or the whole thing of the mod right now.

@ NJ: You're part of the reason why my mod's offline. It's not your fault, it's mine. I realized that I need to clear up some permissions with you - you gave me permissions to use your cars but I might have overstepped my boundaries. The mod is offline just to check / make sure. Here's what I was planning to do to your cars:
- (in some cases) level 1 through 3 upgrades
- Custom damage effects that I like to spend time doing. I love your work and your damage is fine but I personally am a damage fiend and I love it when the cars crumple/bend/shatter a little more :D .  The damage isn't outrageous though, neither are the upgrades. PM/ email me for more info.
- Changing various other things: FeData files for new Prices and Upgrade prices and Serial Numbers, many times I make my own CARP.TXT performance files for your cars. Some authors may disapprove of this so I want to check if this is alright. Note that this isn't like outrageous NOS CARPs, they just have slightly more accurate top speed / acceleration / handling characteristics. I don't modify them all that much but it depends on the car and the way I want it to behave against other cars.
I have many different "styles" of damage that I can create.

EDIT: this is directed at Zpectre:
I can't do Freak-DS style, he's the master
XJ220 makes reasonable damage models :D which I can duplicate (j/k NJ ;) )
I have a couple of my own styles of damage. They depend on the poly load of the car. First is the basic crumple/bend style which makes the visual damage realistically sensitive. Second is that with the CarCAD style over it. Third is, I don't know, miscellaneous types for people looking for certian types of damage :)

Thanks all :)

You'd be unbelievably lucky to get away with that little damage when hitting a road sign in real life ;)

Roadstar

It looks acceptable. Much damage doesnt suit that Porsche.

FerrariMan

Looks good enough to me. hey NJ do you still have the link to that caprice? I was going to put it in this thread

XJ220

Yes, I do (sent messages?!) - but remember the dash...

FerrariMan

Oh right. I'll delete that once I get NFSWiz running on Ubuntu - if I do. Sorry there may be some slight delay due to turbulence today... we will be landing in a few hours :D
