Opengl driver for VEGs Need For Speed 4 Modern Patch v0.1.0

Here are the opengl drivers from the "nfs5_pu_patch_1.06". First the original ones (opengl_org.7z)  and then with modifications by me (opengl_jd.7z). Extract them into the "drivers" folder of the modern patch. Use the "setupMP.exe" to activate them. (Or change manually the nfs4.ini)
In Game: As always choose your screen resolution, and set view distance to full.

The changes I made to the thrash.ini of the "_jd" versions:
[THRASH]
Type=voodoo
FogSupport=1

[ENV]
OGL_VSYNC=0

It works perfect for me. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ERVi7iwfCx4

This is also a perfect setup for me. My fps went from 30 to 50 with a full-grid of high poly (5000-7000) opponents. In Hot Pursuit mode with high poly cops, traffic, and opponents, I went as high as 70fps.  8)

Best configuration for me so far.  :)

Thanks for sharing the drivers, JimDiabolo.

weird, I try using these drivers and I get this error

Zalcus20

It could be an incorrect entry under "OGL_RESOLUTION" in your Thrash.ini file.

I got the same message when I set it to "2" (OGL_RESOLUTION=2).

It can only be set to "OGL_RESOLUTION=0" or "OGL_RESOLUTION=1". (Binary)

AJ_Lethal

Doesn't work with neither 1 or 0 for OGL_RESOLUTION

I was able to make tests on 3 PCs

OpenGL driver works:
- AMD Radeon R9 380 Series (4095 MB)
- AMD Radeon RX Vega 11 (on Board)

Doesn't work:
- NVidia Quadro T1000 with Max-Q Design  (4095 MB) (HP ZBook Fury 15 G7 Mobile Workstation)

What graphic card do you use?

noise

My notebook has:

Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000
NVIDIA GeForce GT 730M

And I have the same message.

I just discovered the "nfs2_se_patch_1.05" has also OpenGL drivers. The version numbering is the same, but filesize is different. Both seem to work like the ones from the nfs5_pu_patch do. Perhaps these will work on the computers where those from PU fail.
The have the original "thrash.ini" and my ones in the "thrash_JimD.zip".

Those ones did the trick in my rig! Performance seems fairly good, only drawbacks is that you can only have the choice of original resolution and desktop resolution: others simply fail in startup.

Do they work for you in things of Alt+Tabbing out of the game? Unfortunately they don't work for me, i'd like to use them so bad because they are much better than nGlide, but i can't tab out of the game with them

I'm a little late to the party, I was never able to get any of the D3D modes to work for mine so I was stuck with nGlide. I'm intrigued the NFS2 opengl3 worked, and in 1024x768@32 bit. it totally reset my HUD, I have to fix that. antialiasing wouldn't come up in nGlide screenshots, so I'm hoping this fixes that.

Actually nGlide is the only renderer for me, which is capable to tab out of the game properly AND is capable to capture the antialiasing. But the best solution for systems beyond Windows 7 is DGVoodoo with the DirectX 7 version which you can get from Porsche Unleashed. The ones from the Expansion Pack cause my game not to have Z Buffer on. Using DGVoodoo is also very important to be able to drive highpoly cars and tracks like Neighborhood Drive (original release's textures!) without the game to crash. But back in the day, i used to use nGlide 2.01 because it just looks better than DirectX, functions well when not using highpoly stuff and you can capture (almost) perfect screenshots with it. But actually, DGVoodoo is way better
EDIT: I might pin the NFS Porsche Unleashed's DirectX 7 version here

I'm afraid there is no such thing as the best renderer for everyone.
I only use the OpenGL versions. I set antialias & co in the Radeon settings. Tracks like "Neighborhood Drive" and high poly cars don't cause any problems.

Seems they don't work on my computer. Even if i use your trash.ini's, cars like the 1932 Ford Roadster Traditional lag the shit out of my game
