.. another late 80's icon?

As for me I always loved the IROC Camaro (of the later ones) best ..

The only useable base to find is Azrael and Mecha's 1989 F-Body action team one as far as I know ..

Installation : Put the "car.viv" in the "C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Need For Speed High Stakes\Data\Cars\iroc" folder.

Your NFS:HS install location may be different than the one above, but that should be right in most cases.

It is of course a bit highpoly and needs some normals and other rework done but I'll see what I can do since that really wasn't the first highpoly car I reworked to a reasonable polycount and carmesh load measure ;)

Question is will I get permission and would you folks at all liked to have that reworked for new driver as well as for some iconic Police cars like for example the Nevada, RCMP or CHP Camaro?

Nice idea!
If the "F-Body Faction" Camaro is too highpoly for your liking you could consider one of "AJ Lethal"s Camaros as well... they are very lowpoly and not too shabby either ;)

wow .. thx for that info Cooya, cool didn't know of that AJ made that car ... looks more than ok to me and very much like he reworked it on Azrael's base maybe since similar texture? ^-^ should at least save a lot of work again for me being a lazybone =D

I hardly would call that particular Camaro highpoly, but the Faction owns, the Faction rules, and the Faction ruins. So you really would be safer just asking our resident werewolf instead. ;)

I just doubt that mecha would be in favor of your request. Especially after what happened to him recently. Not to mention that it's still Azrael's car in the first place. ;)

uh huh .. maybe that will lead too far afield to explain here and is perhaps O/T as well but sounds to me like incase I'd rather ask then AJ for permission? ???

I'm not the kind to call any of the cars I upload as 'mine' like you can also notice that with the Challenger which is and will remain Smokey!'s forever I just try to refine and adopt them to the better if what I do is worth being called that ..

Let's just say, that the Faction is very protective towards their models, and since there is already the alternative more suitable for this project, it would be also easier for you to use the AJ's car instead.

Hi you guys : } an I agree, to um, it be Faster for Frank to get any, answers back.. I'm thinking, I liked his Iroc Z. Much too  =D  8)

Had a look at both Azrael's and AJ's 3rd gen Camaros and found that our local werewolf's car is indeed a very cleanly and 'plain' modelled smooth piece of work ^-^ .. who needs then an 'Angel of Death's' work if we have such animallike artists among the likes of us instead =D

Even performance data is highly accurate based upon a 5.0L TPI 305 engine with five speed manual transmission which is also part of the Chevrolet B4C 'Special Service Package' HO (High Output) for Police purpose only, those were also wearing the slightly understating 'RS' badges :police:

Only confusing thing is that it is wearing a '5.7L' bumper badge of the 350ci engine but I'd anyway have to remove that to get more texture space since it uses a lot of it :o

.. and that is the one downer I had found too since there isn't much space on texture left at all if I disregard the 'werewolf' and of that large badge texture :(

I could also do something about the tires since the large tirewall textures are not necessarily needed, it uses the same amount of texture space like the rims do :o

the brake discs are somewhat ugly 'default EA style' made IMHO but for the sake of polyload in 'pre-VEG patch times' that is absolutely more than ok I did that often too ::), so there will be some nicely done internal discs assigned to the wheels then on that finally, those simple ones ruin the overall well clean look of the car :-\ .. same with the steering wheel, if I find a nice 3D not too highpoly one I could also replace that rather simple one for that ..

Due to the VEG patch polyload is not a real topic anymore but we nevertheless shall not overdo things .. =D

I found a nice looking dashview and as well steering wheel in Azrael's car.viv but I should refrain from using that w/o getting permission of his what after your words seems more than unlikely :(

The red 'Chevrolet' signet front texture will have to be traded in for the plate texture that's necessary for recognition ..

Also the small air inlets' textures surrounding the fog lights are candidate to be traded in since the indifferent grey shades aren't really distinguished by NFS graphic engine in the end ..

Seems the RS didn't have the fog lights installed since has a different grille anyway at least didn't see any on the cruisers? :o

Measured by their overall effect on the car the marked areas need a large amount of space, see attached pics

Another issue would be the necessary space needed for a nicely and realistic looking ODL, at least the tail lights' surface polies are parted but I will nevertheless need then about half the space of the taillight texture .. :-\

If you have other or even more suggestions ideas please feel free to let me know that here .. :)



Add: I hid the Z28 front end parts here (last attached pic) so this looks alot like there can be made a different simpler and less polycostly base model grille instead :)

You can save good deal of texture space if you resize the lights and some interior textures by 50%

(also the 5.7 badge is there because this is a Z28 with the optional 5.7 engine)

I would reluctantly resize the taillight texture because of the nice rippled structure they're showing looks more realistic than w/o like on Addict's '92 Camaro where they are shaded but yet overall plain :(

Resizing texture areas always means losing graphic information and sharpness as well .. :P
Those large taillights on the Camaro do a lot on the car's recognition so I will try what you said with interior and other areas :)

But if I try to solve that graphically by doing own ripples on a resized plain texture it may work as well so let's see .. I'm quite hopefully for that since for example Nils' W124 had that too and it looked more than well to me ^-^

I'm not saying I will start the project asap but it's always good to have your ideas for future projects sharing with others .. ^-^

.. and if even an author is giving advice .. that's simply great =D

I must say this is making me itchy fingers already but there's still some stuff on schedule to do .. oh well ::)

@WiLL .. uhm .. don't get me wrong pal but would you mind starting an editing thread of its own for a new or running project since me either don't like to confuse people with contents from other projects .. pleeease? :)
I'm happy if I manage to keep halfway overview with own 'cabbage' pfrrrrt .. :o -LOL
