I don't know about your feelings on this, but I've noticed some strange cars hitting the top 10 downloads this week... Some of them are good (Ferrari 360 for NFSMW, 2009 Camaro and Shelby G.T.500), but the others aren't supposed to be in that list, because they were either released a long time ago or just aren't nice-looking enough, especially when compared to similar cars released recently. It's weird that the old SLP Firehawk from the F-Body Faction has a higher download count than their newest model (which is infinitely better).

I wonder what caused so many changes in that list. Maybe someone is power-downloading random-picked cars in order to mess with it?

Remko

I've been wondering about that myself, already the '58 Fury suddenly made #2 on the list, and today several other older cars suddenly get 50, 60, 80 hits (that's a lot for one day, nowadays).

It would be a bit lame if visitors would multi-vote to get certain cars on the front page, although it has happened in the past - 2002 or '03 I think, one car got over 500 hits in one day :p probably some script at work.

Mike

The list goes off the top downloads for the past week, and it would be pretty easy for somebody to game it and get a car up onto that list. I could, and should, probably change it so that only 1 download per user counts on that list.

Thanks for bringing it up to my attention :)

mecha

seriously.... people download my old CRAP cars more than the new ones.

that's depressing.

:mad::rolleyes:

RiCkT

yeah i can understand that, mecha :/
well that the MW ferry will take up the top for another few month is ok, its unique, but people should finally update their F-body' DL's to the new ones!
(and download the DanR VS Rick shit :p)

I've been wondering why those 1958 cars were #1

Not everything that counts is counted, and not everything that is counted counts.

What about a vinyl top files? Or maybe different top files for every NfS game...what do you think?

Mike

Some new stuff is coming very soon :)

2fastvipergts

Mike

I never saw it pass through the approval queue. Maybe try uploading again?

They might be pressing the download button thenselves the whole day
by "They", whom are you referring to?

MSFT

If you think we're that pathetic, I can only imagine how much you really are.

I didn't mean they by the whole F-Body faction. On nfscars, that car was on front page but with only 50 downloads. But here the car isn't on the front page but still it was in top 10 downloads.

just a little history lesson for you on what the F-body Faction has done the past 4 years...

Azrael and I's earlier releases (see, December 2002 to about April 2003) were both released at NFSCars and NFSGarage. shortly thereafter, our output diminished and we turned exclusively NFSCars. the dedicated fans of our cars at NFSGarage have only had those few cars of ours to download from here, which could very well explain their popularity at this site, but not at NFSCars (which, actually, none of these cars exist at NFSCars anymore) ... there are many unexplainable factors behind why our older cars get more downloads than the significantly far superior newer models.

I would venture to say it has something to mainly do with the polycounts (the older cars being lesser quality and having anywhere from 2000 to 5000 fewer polies than the newer models which are actually intended for use in not just NFS4) and/or the features of the cars. I would have to say, coming from myself, that even I am disappointed with the presentation of our cars the last 3 years, and that is the reason for my new(old) release strategy.

outside of this, I cannot determine why so many older cars on this site are in the top downloads.

I disagree, since most people should have these cars already and they've become forgotten over the years. They're there for those who search for them, but would so many people still do it? I, for example, seldom download something old, because I prefer more detailed cars and some of these low-poly cars just don't cut it anymore for me. I wish it was true, it would make me feel not so lonely... :D
