Description

Improved dash for Corvette C5.

Version 2, totally reworked. Now it is the pack containing 4 separate versions:

- C5 Convertible

- C5 Coupe

- C5 Convertible 1998 Pace Car

- C5 Coupe Police

***

To install just import the corresponding DASH.FCE and DASH.TGA into Corvette's CAR.VIV with NFSWizard.

***

Originally it was based on EA's stock dash, but it got almost completely reworked. Also, some NFSIII dash textures were used.

WARNING: The dash is not poly-effective at all. This is my first serious attempt at dash making, and I went the quick and dirty way (c), which resulted in some 8900 polies. If you expect problems or just can't stand such ineffective use of polies, please, look for the Vette's dash elsewhere. I have no issues with it with VEG's patch and full grid of hi-poly Corvettes (thanks, VEG).

Bugs and things:

- Visible hood is united with driver's mirror to give it chrome effect, and it will disappear together with the mirror upon getting extensive damage.

- Speedometer is pretty accurate, but I had to limit it at 150 MPH, since actual speedometer on Corvette is non-linear after 100. Anyway, I don't think it's common for the Vette to go beyond 150 on any stock EA track.

- The convertible top seen from inside is of the same color as the top on exterior model (at least it should be).

Please comment on any bugs found.

Update 1: Minor improvements to gauges, seats, mirrors etc. Secondary gages no longer show zeroes. Correct seats for 1998 Pace Car version. Overall interior shade is less blue and more grey now. Added coupe (targa) version, probably also suitable for hardtop coupes with non-removable roof.

Update 2: Minor improvements to seats, pace car version and whatnot. Removed colored rear panel for coupe version. Added police version with radar box.

Update 3: Minor adjustments. New, correct meshes for mirrors and seats (not by me). Removed black hood and made the mirrors white for police version. Removed Corvette logos from seats in convertible, made them smaller in other versions.

Credits and Permissions:

For rear view I used part of mesh from Corvette C5 by XJ220/XenTek/CVPI19. Coupe's roof and top also come for the same source.

Mirror and seat meshes come from Juiced 2 C5 Corvette converted to GTAIV by Alex189.

You can use this dash in your car mods if you like, but please give me a credit in the Readme file, since I've put a lot of work into it. I'd also appreciate if you notify me.

Also, I want to thank the community for being active for such a long time, for lots of great mods, tutorials and inspiration.

Wow. Such an improvement over first versions 1.0-1.2, works like a charm with VEG's patch. Already put that in both convertibles. Any chance for coupe version?

Sure, coupe version will follow, also the police version, if I manage to squeeze out some more space in that 256x256 texture.

Looks good! Could you remove the colorable rear panel in coupe version? It was available only in convertibles IRL

You're working fast! Reminds me of all these dashes from RSR cars with little individual touches for each of the models. Really good job on that pack!

Thanks! Team RSR dashes were stunning indeed, especially against the stock ones. Very professionally made, I used one of those as a guide when making gauges.

Beautifull work , love the details.

I hope you focus on the forward view and keep the rest simple, to save polies. I don't use VEG patch. No Render out of Rams or crashes yet tho.

The Police dash only comes with a black hood which don't fit with non USA pursuit cars.

I remember Kregspiel made a Ferrari 550 maranello (GTO) dash, also with visible hood, I loved it back than, I bet you can do better.

Yes, checked the police version hood, it's always black. It uses the car's primary color, which is black for the Cop Vette. Since all cop skins share the same model, I see no way to make the interior hood replicate the exterior. I guess I'll have to remove it and make the mirrors white for cops. It'll probably be the last update for the Vette (sorry, nikomiku), unless other major bugs are reported. I'd like to move on to some other car.

BTW, is there any special reason for not using Veg's patch? For me, it's such a pleasure to not give regard to polycount after all these years.

Also, quite obviously, the interior hood won't replicate the career decals or hood upgrades, but I guess I'd better to keep it anyway for civil versions.

Could you make a version without Corvette logo on seats?
