Has NFSGarage changed?

Started by Mike, Sep 15, 2008, 1:56 PM

Mike

I was just reading through a thread on NFSCars about the f-body faction, and a couple people mentioned they liked NFSGarage better "when it was just Henderson and Remko running it".

I wanted to reply to that, but the thread is closed... so I will ask you all:

Do you feel the site has changed in the past year?

Quite honestly, the only that that has happened since mecha came on board, is that the name changed (well, 85% of the way) from NFSGarage to NFSAddons... and there are more visitors which means more discussion in the forums.

I don't see that as a problem. Nothing has changed about the way I run the site, nor has it changed with the way Remko runs it. We both do things the same way we have for the past 9 years.

Just curious... I guess in this topic you all can complain freely about anything you want with regards to the site. If you have visited the "NFSGarage errors and bugs" section of the forums, you'll notice I take user input seriously, and try to fix/add anything I can... even if just one member wants it.

So sound off....

Hmmmm? I don't see anything wrong with it. Boo to them you're doing a fine job ;)

WiLL

NFSGarage hasn't changed much (apart from the name, duh :p).

Still as good as ever, with updates and stuff you guys provide.

Keep it up Mike. :bigthumb:

Nothing wrong with this site at all. :)

Mike is runing this site in a good manner better than nfscars.net. There is an increase in the number of addons & members but sadly there are only a few active forums only. On nfscars.net, everyday atleast 10 new forums are posted. Here, there are hardly new forums & many forums are not related to NFS. But there is a develpoment in this site & Mike too takes our complaints seriously. SO hats off!

Mike. guess what? your the best!!! :bigthumb:
I have been active since early 2008. I was a bit stubborn at first, but I soon made friends. I have seen people come and go, but I refused to leave. That lead to me becoming one of this forums most active members during a consecutive two years. But my time has come. It is time for me to depart. Gbye

Hmm...something changed...The forum colors. ;)

I started posting here back in 2006 and I really like how have improved this site. You're always doing a great work and keeping this site in perfect conditions, Mike.

I've always preferred this site to NFSCars because of the Addons available here - which is what NFS modding websites should be all about!  Especially for NFS4, the cars and tracks are easier to navigate and there is more selection.  Here, even for a decade old game, people like Zpectre, and Memphis still squeak out the occasional add-on, and you just don't see that NFSCars.  There it's too focused on the forums and showroom.

I know that I still get the occasional urge to pop in NFS4 and come here and talk old-school NFS...no better place than here, I say!

One thing about NFSAddons is that its members are quite nice & reply & help everyone whereas on nfscars if you ask a question, some people will call you names or you may not get reply. There, many people are jealous/envious of each other but here everyone treats others in a nice manner with no ego in heart.

The site looks great to me.  I got to NFSCars from time to time, but the site is nicer here, as are the forums, and the people in them.  I just find it an easier place to hang out.

Mike

Well thanks for all the comments everyone.

It's definitely good to know that everyone here knows the site hasn't changed at all since the name change... and I'm glad you all appreciate the work everyone here puts in... and I definitely appreciate everyone that continues to visit :)

Zpectre

I guess the best thing I can say is that... this site is to NFS what M is to BMW. :D

I think I had an "impression" the site was better because the community has cooled down over the years and NFSHS became an old game. But it still is a great place because it's far away from mainstream traffic. Having more members is necessary for a site but doesn't really create a better environment.

Mike, you and Remko are some of the finest gentlemen I've ever had the fortune to come across on the internet. :) It's people like you who give depth to the community.

I have a bunch of cars sitting in my HD (mostly updated versions of old cars) and I need to find time to release them, maybe give them bodykits for upgrades and convert a few more. :) My dream is to make damage models for them but I really don't know how to do the work. Only thing lacking would be dashes but NFSHS wasn't made for dashes. As much as I like driving with dash view in NFSHS (better visibility than in TDU IMO) the dash counts towards the polylimit and you run less cars this way, though you can make dashes easy (interior from MW + retexture).

Sounds Great! Zpectre Welcome back ;)
