Krad2

it won't read and use the cars that i put in the folder.  The items say that they are ready to be written to disk. but i won;t  write them to the disk and the disk won't read the files(cars)

Rafel

How do you install the cars???
I can't understand u.

Are you trying to put download cars on the CD? :squint:

Are you trying to put the entire zip file in the cars folder? :squint:

You don't do either of those.

Take the .zip file (the one you downloaded) and take the .viv file out of it. Put THAT file where the readme tells you to put it. On your hard drive, not the CD. The readme may tell you where to put some other files, like stuff ending in .qfs (though not all cars have these). Those go on the hard drive as well.

If you don't understand, please take some screenshots and post them, along with a detailed explanation of exactly what you are doing.

The way I do it is, make a directory in the apropriate folder, like (your root drive or whatever)/program files/electronic arts/data/cars
Make your new directory there, and put the viv file for the new car there and any other files the readme says to put there.  Put any other files in the zip in the folder it says to in the readme.

Does that help?

Hey Krad2,first things first...Download the zip, then us winzip to unzip it,then make sure the folder has the correct name-for example ccam, then put folder in my computer, program files, electronic arts, data, cars.

TS

When you download the cars (make sure NFS HS is installed on your computer first) extract the zip file by  right clicking > Extract files. Next, go to start > run and type "Your Hardrive name":\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Data\Cars

Then right click > new > folder and type a 4 letter code name that goes with your car (If you downloaded a Nissan 350Z, name the folder N350 or 350Z, just make sure you know what car is in which folder). Next, drag the car.viv from the extracted zip folder into the new folder you created in your HS Cars directory, Finally, run NFSHS and your newly downloaded car should appear in the menu.

Well, from his explanation, i think unBtable was right. He was trying to copy the files to CD.
