Need For Speed 3 Changing AI player names

I am using Hex Editor Neo to edit the AI player names in fedata < config < Config.dat, but this is not working. Either the name does not change when playing in a race or the game crashes. How do I do this?

AI names are stored in NFS3.exe, so try changing there instead. However, you can only give them name that has the same length as their original.

Ace = Ice
Gotcha = Swerve
Etc...

There's a string editor for nfs4 which is able to change also AI player names.

Not sure if it also works for nfs3.
