I have to admit that I am not very good at using GIMP. So far I've mostly used other programs. I thought it was good idea trying to make a slide for my "Atlantica revisited" track.

Hmm, the screenshot looks fine on my side, copy-pasting it and all



Maybe you could try resizing the pasted selection with Shift+S if for some reason you get an oversized image
