HELP!!! NFS:HS Error when installing :(

Someone help me out. I wanto play nfs high stakes on my pc. I run xp and I cant use it on xp unless I do a full install and fix it. But the only install that works is minimum and unless I get full install to work I won't be able to play it!

well how do i get the file back? and how do i install it without the file? put it in the folder while its installing?

I'd say the CD is damaged (scratches or something). Maybe you can borrow another one from a friend?

The CD is probably old and it has been used a lot of times.

perhaps I can offer up a solution for this problem.

-install using Minimum
-manually copy all the files from your CD /Data folder to the /Data folder in the NFS4 install location on your hard drive (usually C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Need For Speed High Stakes\Data)

then Start -> Run -> regedit

go to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Electronic Arts\Need for Speed High Stakes\1.0


and change the "SrcDrive" value to ".\\\\"  (without the "") (this is necessary to change the location in which the game is read its data from -- it changes it from trying to read your NFS4 cd to reading the content that's on your hard drive)

and then of course, run all your XP fixes. I personally have not done any of this, but considering that you have to manually copy Audio/Music and your /Movies folder to the hard drive anyway, I don't see why it won't work.

if this doesn't work, then may I direct you to www.ebay.com  I'm not sure if it's still available, but there was a compilation set called The World of Need For Speed that contains NFS4 too.
