How to create adjustable colors for cars NFS4

Code 4

Hi everyone,

I have a question,
In the CAR00.tga files from cars in NFS4 there is a specific layer that defines the places on the CAR00 that are color adjustable.
My question is, how do you actually create such a layer in the CAR00 file?

Greetings,

Hey,
i think you have to set a special RGB-color in the alpha channel. Freak made a Tutorial on this in the NFS:HS Workshop section.

Ah! Now I get it!

Just use the right paint on the right channel.
Thank you for the link you gave me!

If you don't have a program to save tga files with alpha channels, you can also export and import RGB and Alpha channels as two sepperate files in BMP format in NFS-Wizzard.

MADMAN_nfs

Huh?
Are you sure about NFS-Wizard Freak-DS?
Its possible to switch drawstyle, but I can export/import tga files only (NFS Wizard 0.5.0.79).

hmm.. it used to work in some version when you right-clicked the selected drawstyle, it doesn't anymore. it's ages ago that i used that technique, because i switched to proper editing programs quite fast. I just checked it in my wizzard and you're right, it doesn't work anymore. strange. (v.0.5.79)

Do you mean the Art 2 tga converter by Addict maybe?
Or am I mixing two tools up, I have to admit I never used either.  :-[

XJ220

Nah. Art2Tga converts the textures used by cops (the ones that stand next to the speeders' cars in those little cutscenes).

But there is... was an equivalent program to convert a 32 bit TGA to a 24 bit color BMP and a greyscale alpha channel BMP. Unsure of its color depth. And neither do I remember its exact name nor its author. Might really be Addict.

I made a tutorial on how to edit TGAs in GIMP a time ago, let's see if it can help you: http://www.nfsaddons.com/forums//index.php?topic=1652.0
