Yeah, that took me by surprise as well, even though I hadn't been much to GTR lately. I used to post there occasionally a year or 2 ago, but I stopped because there was a bit too much drama going on for my tastes.
According to the most recent post on their Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/drivingpassion.net/ they are almost done with transferring to the new location, so they may be live again pretty soon.

About NFS4, not that much that I know of, aside from the authors themselves (like Freak-DS or AJ) posting screenshots from their releases or WIP. Even the official NfsAddons page does little more than post the SOTD each day.
I've got people in my friendlist from my early TotalNFS/Racerplanet days, but that contact is mostly non-nfs related now.

Most NFS related activity on FB these days is based on recent games such as Rivals, 2015 and No Limits.

Drivingpassion.net is nearly up and running, if you had an old account with gtrcars.net, you may continue to use your old username, however the passwords were not transferred so use the forgot password to reclaim your account. The forums are not yet open, last minute tweaking needs to be finished first.

It's nice to see some working old NFS sites I never know before!

Btw, can someone upload every NFSHS cars with unique characters (like é) from NFSCars to NFS Addons? It annoys me so much that I can't download cars like Reggaeton RS' Murciélago LP640 and PrivetDan_14's HSV GTO Coupé from NFSCars after all this time. So many years have passed and NFSCars' bugs are still not fixed .
