Do these rims look ok for the Pursuit version? I tried to model them after the prototype picture ...

They are not as highpoly as the 'turbine wheels' from the Racer CX GTI but a bit better than the lowpoly wheels.
Overall polyload 3378 and a mesh .fce filesize of below 600kB (589kB)

If it looks ok I will then update the Pursuit CX with it ..

I deciced now to not alter the body mesh of the Pursuit CX so the Police light remains 'non-reflective', it will come then with the new Steel rims and a default generic ('americanized') Texture as Car00.tga but with an additional customizable Racer texture (as a choice) and a short instruction of how to alter the car.viv in NFSWizard if you prefer the 'combined' version or even how to make this 'Racer-only'.

I did that since the new Steel rims look quite well with the CX for a very early and basic version (not GTI and without extra luxury = 'economic' variant)

Additionally I altered the Carp.txt still to a lesser performanced variant from a datasheet of a very basic CX 2200 (2.2l) engine but I have left the AI acceleration table untouched for a better AI performance when the car is used in AI Pursuit mode.

Nevertheless the CX GTI will come as an extra download variant as a Racer only car (with a customizable Car00.tga, of course) without police options or hidden parts) but with the new highpoly 'turbine' GTI wheels.

Add.: I apologize for your possible efforts of repeated reading and viewing, trying to understand ::) and posting .. This is a really very old project I did once and I thank you all for your feedback, input and suggestions as well as justified critizism from community as well as from Lukasz (Cosmo) himself as the original author, without all this the car in its current state wouldn't look like as it does now, thank you all again!
A true 'community' work .. ^-^

I really hope you'll have fun enjoying this wonderful and beautifully as well as clever designed French car .. =D

Greetings

Your explanation in filesize does ring a bell, I remember how certain 11k poly cars would cause the game to crash much sooner whereas certain other cars with 13000 or more polies would seem a lot more 'stable'. Clearly it was more than just a matter of numbers.
Releasing two versions of each... I don't know if that is necessary, really. Also thanks for the explanation on the 'orange' taillights, interesting to read that you gave it this much thought, I'd like to see it in the game.

I certainly do like the simple Chrome hubcaps on the police car, seems fitting. And if these smoother wheels still keep the car inside reasonable Poly/kb limits, then yes, please.
Seeing those chrome disk wheels makes me realize how old the car actually is (or how futuristic it was upon release, of course). My grandfather had one of the first Citroën CX's  in the country, (I think) I remember being amazed at how spacious it was inside. :)

Thanks Remko,
you're right, I do much thoughts about cars .. too much for my own taste sometimes ::)

No, as said I will send only two versions of it, the CX GTI as a 'racer only' car without any 'extensions' and the Pursuit CX with the new rims I just created within an hour from the SM's rims. (Btw .. will I have to mention/give credits to concerning that?)

The Pursuit version will contain all necessary files to make a choice between a 'combined' racer/pursuit car as well as 'plain' pursuit version which will be the default option.

Sorry, I wanted to prepare the files and upload it today still but the recent discussion about 'socialistic' cars here on the board made me somehow thinking about. I will send it to you tomorrow.

Greetings
Frank

P.S. Lukasz (Cosmo) made a really great and sophisticated car .. the famous Citroën CX .. I just made some alterations to it .. he is the original author and that should never be forget even if he is out of business.

No hurry, take your time and release it when you feel it's all right. ;) it's not a paid job.
And yeah, if a part comes from another source, I would mention the original creator in the readme, seems like the right thing to do.

.. as you mentioned this with your grandfather, something came to my mind, too. One of our teachers back in School days also had a CX, I think was an ugly but typical (in that time) green or brown metallic one, but its futuristic sight was impressive, and when he parked the car then and it was being automatically lowered ('hydropneumatic suspension' with as well automatic levelling) we always stood about and watched that very astonished :o

.. I am confused and somewhat embarrassed :-[ now, seems I did not enough investigation ..

I found out that especially the French Gendarmerie used the later CX GTIs (they often had high performance cars like for example the Renault Alpine A110, the Citroen SM :) and so on ..) since certain parts of France are very mountainous and high performance cars are highly suitable there or also like on French Highways.

Seems I might again postpone the upload of the CX .. I consider now to upload three versions, the default 'Racer' CX GTI, the Gendarmerie CX GTI (also with 'Turbine' rims, see prototype pic) and the lower performanced multitexture CX 2200 with the old French National Police b/w scheme as the default Fran.tga (for urban usage) on for example Slawek's 'Paris, Paris' track.

@Remko: I have another question still, Sir ;): Since the CX doesn't have a dash I looked at the Citroen BX designed by Hrvoje Mrkovic and I think it looks quite suitable also for the CX.

He wrote (in his readme): 'If you want use my car for any purpose (non-profitable) its o.k. although it will be nice if you mention my name.' (Hrvoje Mrkovic) zrile_mrky@inet.hr

Anyone needing a headache pill? I do! Need a drink .. :o

Those French again .. :-\

Frank

P.S. The recently added screenshot shows all three versions at once, the 'Gendarmerie' CX GTI (but with multiple textures as a choice), the 'Racer-only' CX GTI (middle) and the 'Serial #22' Pursuit CX '74 (multitexture) with the old 'French National Police' scheme as the new default Fran.tga

P.P.S.: So the very last update (and pic) shows again the multitexture Pursuit version (with the Racer Car00.tga exchanged for the 'American' Car00.tga as a choice so both cars here are same serial number) with a small detail changed still, the '74 CX had a chrome strip at the tailgate instead of the later black plastic strip. Fran.tga is the old b/w French National Police scheme

-I will now send the files to Remko for a test until it will then be finally uploaded-
