After a bit to many gamecrashes I need some advice:

-Running nfs4 with EP pack from JimD.
-49 cars installed
-No profile created in career (so I didn't buy cars)

When I deactivate all cars:

-and select 49 new cars I get gamecrash
-or select EA original cars I get gamecrash

I tried all this with unique serialnr.s

ps: When I activate EA or original cars, the Corvette (serialnr. 19) is not selected.

Any ideas?

@_WiLL_: You write......adventurous.

I find out polycount don't matter.The Polycount of the previous 49 cars was much higher than the new ones.
And many times I run the game with conflicting serialnr.'s without crash, and after I gave unique serialnr.'s I got gamecrash.

Mostly I activate and install cars one by one, it gives less problems.

MADMAN_nfs

Hey, noise.

You should specify WHEN you experience the crash.
Does it crash when you start the game (Windows-version, what error message)?
Or when you start a pursuit race/single race (how many opponents, traffic enabled etc.)?

Problem sounds like a serial number conflict, though.
Conflicting serial numbers can crash the game when you start a race. As already mentioned (by XJ220) in Will's thread you cant assign all numbers as you want. There are special serials which are reserved by the game (e.g. #33 for Knockout-car).
Other serials are used as AI-copcars --> put a non-police car there = crash in pursuit mode  :police:

The Mixer won't complain if you set this 'special' serial numbers wrong, but the game definitely will...

Just yesterday, HS stopped working out of the blue when I installed Vlad's Saleen S7R and reactivated the 911 (G) Cabriolet. Started, Screen black light, Screen black, Screen black light, back to the desktop, Exception Caught. Removed both cars, HS still wouldnt start. Great. I checked the total car number, it was 48. I checked the serials, removed all conflicts. 33 Knockout was alright. Still crashed.

Then, I switched to the oiginal car folder - HS started. Then, I deleted several cars from the folder, until I could limit it to one car - another 911 that I had activated all the time, also before. There were FeDatas in the folder of the car, outside the ViV. The FeDatas outside the viv file had a different serial number than the ones inside the viv and crashed the game out of the blue - without ever having problems with that before.

MADMAN_nfs

Yes, fedatas in car folder can be a problem. Found a little checklist on my backup-hdd:

GENERAL TIPS ON NFSHS

  • Use SerialnumberEditor (resp. NFS Wizard) and don't use serialnumbers higher then 49
  • Serialnumbers 12,20,22,32,36 and 49 must be copcars (if playing pursuitmode)
  • Serial 33 have to be used
  • Don't leave an extracted fedata-file in a car-folder. NfsHs might use this serialnumber instead of the one in car.viv
  • You can use any car as traffic-car (copy car.viv to any traffic-folder), but you have to delete ALL it's fedata-files or set their serialnumbers to zero (manually; serialnumbereditor does not allow zero)
  • The serialnumber in carp.txt does not matter
  • Cars that make the game crash (no serialnumber-conflict and highpolygon patch installed) may get fixed by replacing or deleting their soundfiles

@Freak-DS: Hope you've got my mail :)

XJ220

Are you sure about the serial number in the CARP.TXT? Though I noticed that the original PDia numbers do not match between the CARP and FEDATA files. Still, I always set them all to the same value :)

Aaand have you ever tried using a non-pursuit car as an AI replacement? I'd have thought the game ignores the Pursuit flag in that case and just uses the car. The flag sounds like something only relevant to the game's menu.

WiLL

 Hi Sorry for that FDs, I be mad an Sad,if it happen to me i was last

Thnx for all info,

@Madman_nfs:

When I run NFSHS.exe I get a black screen and nothing happens.And
If I'm not playing pursuit is using those copcars serialnr.'s a problem?

Another thing about the carmanager:

When I activate more than 19 cars I can't save the carlist

Hey again!

You're right XJ220, i just checked it. The pursuit flag is ignored.
So, basically you can give this cop-serials to any car.
Game is crashing only if the serial of the copcar is not used at all (and you load that track in pursuit mode).

Regarding the carp.txt: Yep, pretty sure. You can even set numbers with five digits in NFS-Wizard - doesnt matter. Pssst... I also set them properly for the sake of completeness ^^

@noise: The Mixer is not saving the car list if there are any serials doubled (duplicates should be red in color). You have the #33 (folder knoc) enabled?

Just got nfs4 running again, pure luck I think.I selected 23 cars randomly, all B class and conflicting serials.

@madman_nfs:  Carmanager only saves carlists without conflicting serials, you're right.

carp.txt serials are not very important, but I remember I had problems when it was set to 50 or 0.
