Hey guys tell your opinions about new season, new rules and tests before Australia.

Jaume08

I hope this time Renault will be fighting from the beginning of the season. Last test shows that they have a very competitive car. However, McLaren car is not getting very good results. Do you they are going to fix it?

By the way, do you know something about the F1 game from Codemasters?

Oliver Oresic

No, I don't know.

McLaren has problems, but Brawn GP has the same Mercedes engine and they are more than second faster than anyone in few tests. And remember that they were Honda last year and drives are the same, Barrichello and Button.
Thursday times from Barcelona:
1. Rubens Barrichello, Brawn BGP 001, 1:18.926
2. Nico Rosberg, Williams FW31, 1:19.774
3. Timo Glock, Toyota TF109, 1:20.091
4. Sebastian Vettel, Red Bull RB5, 1:20.576
5. Fernando Alonso, Renault R29, 1:20.664
6. Felipe Massa, Ferrari F60, 1:20.677
7. Robert Kubica, BMW Sauber F1.09, 1:20.740
8. Lewis Hamilton, McLaren MP4-24, 1:20.869
9. Sebastien Buemi, Toro Rosso STR4, 1:21.013
10. Giancarlo Fisichella, Force India VJM02, 1:21.045
11. Sebastien Bourdais, Toro Rosso STR4, 1:21.629

Jaume08

This might be a very important year for Vettel. It'll be very difficult for him to win, but he can prove his potential.

Oliver Oresic

Sunday times from Jerez:
1. Rubens Barrichello, Brawn BGP 001, 1:19.236
2. Fernando Alonso, Renault R29, 1:19.819
3. Nico Hulkenberg, Williams FW31, 1:20.015

This year's champion (and future champions) will be the driver who wins the most races.

Yay or nay?

Yeah, right.

Jaume08

I don't quite like this new system.

Imagine for a moment that Ferrari wins 4 consecutive races, that means that they can just relax and wait for other teams the catch them...Ok, there's the constructor's thing and all that but, here's another example, if Hamilton wins only one race and after that he have an accident and can't compete again and Massa ends in second position through the rest of the season, Wouldn't Massa deserves to win the championship?

I dunno. Maybe at the end it would be the same...or I'm just a bit confuse due to Bernie Eccleston ugliness

I probably should've made this more clear in my first post.

The scenario you're describing, (the first part) would never happen as the new rules only effect the driver's championship, not the constructors. The second part could happen if Massa has more points than Hamilton and the same number of wins as the first tie-breaker for the title is driver points.

Jaume08

Oh, sorry. Then I think I was confused. Thank God!

But just to be sure...I have another question.
Imagine a season with 5 championships with those results:

QuoteHamilton 2 wins
Massa 1
Raikonen 1
Alonso 1
Now, let's imagine that after wining in the first two races Hamilton decide to stop competing until somebody reach him. With those final results, Will he win the season even if Alonso manage to make more points?

Oliver Oresic

And I read that Hamilton and Alonso are against new points system.

If Alonso doesn't tie or beat Hamilton in wins, then yes Hamilton would still win.

Yeah, not too many drivers like this new system.

Wow you really know a lot about F1 & you always create threads about them on each seasons. I think the F1s are pretty interesting. Brawn Mercedes seems to have real potential. I also want to see McLaren Mercedes, Ferrari & BMW Sauber to do some progress but they seem to struggle for the first 2 races of the year. I don't really mind Brawn though since they use great Mercedes engines.
The SALEEN S7 Twin Turbo is my chosen supercar. :D

S7 TT Rocks!!! :drive:

I think Ferrari will be competitive when season comes in Europe, but the problem will be points difference between them and Brawn.
McLaren is in worse position than Ferrari, they are about 7 tenths slower than them, I think they will be competitive much later, in Hungary maybe, but it will be too late to win title for McLaren, this season is lost for them.
And remember that testing through season is forbidden this year, so speed of cars will not change a lot.
