well, one other announcement I wanted to make... the cars, from a modeling/texturing/assembly standpoint are finished. the only hold-up are the fedata/carp/naming/readme-related things.

just because I'm an awful individual, I will be abandoning that "collection" release method.

the final car list is as follows:

Camaros (LT1):
Camaro RS
Camaro Z28

Camaros (LS1):
Camaro 3800
Camaro Z28
Camaro SS*

Firebirds (LS1):
Firebird 3800
Firebird Formula WS6
Firebird Trans Am WS6

SLP Engineering:
SLP Camaro RS
SLP Firebird GT
SLP Camaro SS*
SLP Firehawk

*= non-SLP Camaro SS will feature the standard grille and exhaust; SLP Camaro SS will feature the SLP bowtie grille and Center Mount Exhaust.

the SLP cars will all feature their respective stripe kits or unique parts. the stripes are not perfect by any means, they're not the greatest, and I'm not going to do anymore work on them. the stripes were all "hand-drawn" by me using visual aids.

for performance, I have defaulted back to using EA's carps, as Azrael's I feel slow the cars down. all the V6 cars will use Ares' carp from his Grand Prix. the LT1 Z28 will use carp.txt, the LS1 Z28 and Formula will use EA's carp1.txt, the Trans Am WS6 will use carp2.txt, and the SS and Firehawk will use carp3.txt. I used the carps from the EA Camaro.

the cars will not have damage. although the cars will not come with showcases, I may do some later -- as such, I have included the correct showcase information for each car in the fedata files. the cars will have multi-language support, but the text will not be translated (they will all be in American English). I have also assigned unique serial numbers for each car, so theoretically, assuming the right slots are available, you will be able to install all of these cars at the same time. if not, use serial number editor.

and now, onto the real announcement.

I did these cars namely for myself, and I have "manipulated" a very dedicated, friendly, and helpful group of people to assist me in this task. without Azrael, Kracka, Shake, Venom, DanR, and a few others, these cars will have never been created.

I feel as if my duty here is done. there are a lot more cars that I can put together and do, but I feel as if this dozen or so cars were "essential" and everything else was just optional. there are many other things that I could be doing with my life right now rather than wasting my time on a community that does not care or appreciate any of the work that F-body Faction has contributed over the last 4 years.

this does not mean F-body Faction is done. this does not [necessarily] mean that I will be relinquishing my admin position here. what it does mean is that I will no longer try to make cars for people that don't want them. these cars being F-bodies alone pigeonhole them into a small niche that enjoys them. it's like that in the real world, and it's a shame, because I feel that these cars sum up what everyone could want in a low-cost sports car. it's got aggression, power, style, and unlike a lot of Japanese cars out there, history. it's unfortunate that these cars were not given the attention they deserved by the old General Motors. but even after the announcement of their discontinuation was made, Azrael and I decided to keep the F-body spirit alive in NFS.

we gained quite a following not so much from the NFS sites like NFSCars and NFSGarage, but have done so on many other sites as well. to this day, I still get requests for our cars to be posted or converted. but I have standards... and those standards have not been met until just about a week ago. the cars are not perfect, but I think that coming from what little fanbase they have, we are the ones that have come the closest to making these cars look great.

it's taken me about 5 years, but at last I can play with the cars that I have waited so long to be able to play with all at once.

I will be in the process of moving to a new house over the course of the next week or two. whether I will have an internet connection there or not anytime soon remains to be seen. but I will be seriously attempting to find full-time work after this move is completed, and there's no telling if I'll be "back" to edit cars again.

very much like the F-bodies became in August 2002, mecha will be on indefinite hiatus.

that's all I have for now.

more to come?

EDIT: mecha is back, for now.

I have a new list of car projects I intend on releasing for NFS:HS sometime this year, maybe sooner if I'm lucky. these are the 3rd generation F-bodies, a series of meshes that were made in February 2007 that were never completed. I suppose this is to somewhat commemorate 10 years since the 4th gens and 15 years overall in car editing/modeling for me.

I tried to compile a list of various trims utilizing hardtop, T-top, and convertible roof options. an additional notchback model may be added later. these trims are authentic, as T-top models were not available with 350 ci engines.

Pontiac Trans Am (305) (85-90) (T-top)
Pontiac Trans Am GTA (350) (85-90) (Hardtop)
Pontiac 20th Anniversary Turbo Trans Am (Turbo 3800 V6) (1989) (T-top)
Pontiac Firebird Formula (350) (85-90) (Hardtop)
Pontiac Firebird Formula (350) (91-92) (Hardtop)
Pontiac Trans Am GTA (350) (91-92) (Hardtop)
SLP Engineering Formula Firehawk (350) (1992) (Hardtop)

Chevrolet Camaro Z28 (305) (85-90) (T-top)
Chevrolet Camaro Z28 (305) (85-90) (Convertible)
Chevrolet Camaro IROC-Z (350) (85-90) (Hardtop)
Chevrolet Camaro RS (305) (88-90) (T-top)
Chevrolet Camaro Z28 (350) (91-92) (Hardtop)

I'm still sorting Azrael's 400 parts in the .z3ds and improving the textures. pictures will follow soon.

has there ever been a pursuit version of any F Body Faction's Camaros to replace the NFS one?

never did pursuit cars. none of our cars were ever even intended to be replacements for the EA cars, meaning for like full grid races or upgrades. we had one Pontiac Firebird Formula back in 2003 that DID have upgrades, but that was the only one we ever did like that. I also think Azrael tried to keep the polycount down enough for it to work in races. beyond that, the only cars that were EA replacements were the old low poly models, pre-F-body Faction material. ;)

heh :)

I can't believe I haven't posted in this thread in almost 5 years. I decided to start tinkering with Zmod and PSP again. I had posted in the upcoming projects on the main site a couple years ago, but due to various life events I suspended all work on cars. so here's what to expect soon:

Chevrolet Camaro IROC-Z Concept (LT1)
Chevrolet Camaro Z28 1993 Pace Car (LT1)
Chevrolet Camaro ZL-1 (572 ci)
30th Anniversary Pontiac Trans Am WS6

Pontiac Banshee Concept

the old cars from 2006-2007 will all be re-released eventually as they had various glitches I overlooked then and new improvements.

Cooya!

Wow! Welcome back to your own thread! I am pretty excited about the Pontiac Banshee IV as it always was one of my childhoods favorite concept cars. We desperately need more of that 80's vibes for NFS4 ...Oh well... I feel so old now. :)
