You may be all too right as always pal but I always keep in mind the polyload and optical rendition ingame .. this isn't HP2 or later where I can add and add details ... you cannot compare HS to newer versions where each and every detail is being added and displayed like on a fine scale model, ok that base is perhaps just another 8 polies or so but where's an end to that? I can as well model the mounting screws to it np for me well but who on earth sees that except for you? See I simply modelled that new AeroDynic from another DodgeBoy original car I can't even remember which one, why didn't he also add that base plate although DodgeBoy really was an exact and precise modeler? Must be a reason why ...

You know we share another same hobby or passion Model Railroading .. dunno if over there in the U.S. there's also that discrimination of 'rivet counters' .. that's what you probably are bro but others might be satisfied if things just look 'good enough' ...

go ahead modelling this Prussian G12 for the better as a lifetime job perhaps ... and tell us when you're finished ^-^
.. don't forget it's a three cylinders steam engine ...

OMg I have the exact type train but a much shorter shunt type, It's plastic & battery operated though not electric, I got it at Target years ago, Also picked up a modern diesel train (plastic also) to complete the old/new set, Oddly enough the German one got Americanized and has a Massachusetts Rail Company on it :P. Same black with red bottom design though. It unfortunatly (nor does the diesel) have real lightup headlights, I had to paint the headlights as they was just the same color as the body. I have tested these and they will run on HO track just they ain't electric but it might be possible to mod them to electric. They do however come with tracks, Cheap grey plastic ones non detailed, Even the ties are grey UGH  >:( can China not paint them brown? Mine don't come with those cardboard buildings like in the pics though, Just the tracks and that small gate house by the crossing signs. I'm guessing these was a later issue set than what I bought. I'd have got bigger pics to show BUT I'm at work now and they seem to block all but a few pic sites, So I had to grab the Google thumbnails and save those then attach.

Anyhow on the lightbar, I can slap the bottom on it from a AeroDynic I did long ago so no biggie, I just thought you might want to know about how the base looked on them. Your rotators looks better than what I used though :), Do you scratch make them or use existing rotators from other lightbars as I do?

cannot really tell from the first small pic but should be a very common SD70 diesel electric type ...

... I like the classic EMD F-7 better .. such a cool clean machine ^-^

build back in the 40's/50's - two stroke diesel electric engine .. pounding like a hammer .. =D
.. wish to have heard that once in real life passing by ... :)

listen to some explanations and data of the F-7 .. impressive .. if you're calling a 440 an 'large engine' -LOL

https://youtube.com/v/rYCsTHmrT_Q

.. listened to what he said btw? 2000 Amps(!) of DC current .. you can melt down your garage by that ... and this quite an old one .. :o

Märklin has also build the F-7 as a historic 'AmTrak' version .. wish I had the money tho .. :-\

nice winter pic shoving through the snow here is ..

Your steamer should be a fantasy one but reminds me of a German Hanomag build class 81 if it is a 0-8-0 shunter ..

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DRG_Class_81

.. popular small shunter tank loco often build more or less accurately .. :-\

from this ..

to this ..

it is the big brother of the much more common class 80 .. also very popular 0-6-0 shunter tank loco

.. both were of the so-called 'standard type' locomotives (Einheitsbaureihe) from former 'Deutsche Reichsbahn Gesellschaft' much different from older former 'Länderbahn' baureihen (classes) like 'Pxx (Personen- means 'commuter train loco', Sxx (Schnellzug- 'fast train', Gxx (Güterzug- 'Goods or freight train loco' and so on .. (the above G12 class is such since it is a former Prussian railway build before 'Deutsche Reichsbahn')

back to topic and call that a day bro, there's other forums out there for that stuff ... :police:
