You're absolutely right probably, cannot really tell since I didn't grow up over there in the States -LOL

But all that doesn't concern the NYPD Fury .. just wanted to make clear the difference between them bars for WiLL, sry pal ..

Btw I agree with him, I don't like them later 'slim' bars either .. :police:

Update: screenshot of the current state of the new AeroDynic lightbar .. completely reworked and remapped using some special tricks .. cover polyload (w/o interior but with an interior bottom and seperators so far ..) 308 polies ^-^

2nd pic: one of the prototype pics I used for it ..

Question folks ..:
I can either make a simpler interior but with an appropriate look (as for example on the Gran Torino 'Sheriff') and also acceptable visual effects or a really polycostly one (with 'real' rotators and stuff ..) like on the Signal Stat version ... what do you prefer?

I'd go with the one with actual rotators with this one, texturing is ok for solid colors like in the Cali style but NYPD looks better with actual rotators.

thx Paul .. I'll try a 'combined' one first .. textured and normals adjusted with the inner flashers since they're behind darker shaded surfaces (red/orange) and 'real' rotators on the clear outer sections .. tricky but I think that would work ... I'll post pictures of it asap ..

current state is: made the outer reflection mirrors and textured red/orange flashers ..

Do you also plan on making the standard AeroDynic setups with the single blub rotators (as was Cali style and Dukes Of Hazzard,T.J. Hooker, etc.) ?

Moin Paul ... it is a funny coincidence (and I swear it is.. ;)) that Max(BrabusAMG) is also planning to do some new NYPD stuff, the Gran Fury NYPD on another base he currently reworks, he felt inspired to do by seing the Fury so we are now exchanging ideas concerning the lightbar. He of course will do a more costly and better looking interior, wait and see .. ^-^

I'm not planning to do more AeroDynics/Aerotwins but I can make one for you if you wish now that I'm at it, do you mean that 'all-rotator' setup or the four rotators/outer flashers one? I also noticed that the Aerotwin (with centre speaker) has a wider middle chrome part (because of all that audio stuff inside) than the 'all-light' versions where the chrome part isn't quite as wide, right?

I think the standard version with 2 front/2 rear flashers and 6 rotators (3 on each side) would be a great one, I can then mod that to the other styles with no problem by adding/removing parts :)

Ok I see .. this is the one you mean, right? 6 not 4 rotators of course, plz. excuse my mistake ..
additional steady or flashing outer lights and w/ a centre speaker .. I'll see what I can do Sir ^-^

I noticed that the NYPD setup is in so far different that not only those two-coloured double halogenic spots and mirrors were used but I assume that the overall width is also smaller than on the 'standard' sized ones since the speaker doesn't cover or hide the innermost stabilizer line so all four compartments per side are fully visible ..
So the middle part isn't wider like I assumed rather than the overall size is just smaller ..
Always forgetting that lightbars were available in different sizes ::)

Update: Aerodynic has an interior now .. hopefully an acceptable compromise between detail and polyload ..
Polyload of lightbar: 676, overall polyload: 3839, overall carmesh: 640kB .. as said, a detailed Aerodynic wouldn't have much less polyload than the Signal Stat .. :-\

Attached a car_test zipfile as usual ... any comments are welcome if not even expected ;) before I will then prepare the uploading files for both cars ...

Nice work, and 3K8 is still solid polycount for such car nowadays. Also I support the plea for Cali Aerodynic. Maybe you would be interested in making a replica of the iconic police car from THE Terminator movie?

You already have the Fury in Adam 12 livery, but the Terminator takes place in the eighties, so the patrol cars already updated with the red/blue Aerodynic due to the LA Olympics, and the car itself would be Dodge Monaco, because the prop company went with Dodges for the movie, in stead of the Plymouths.

FranknFurter

thanks for such suggestions Dark One ... plz. excuse my lack of information about those cars .. best if you post pictures ... or even better, start a new thread: car suggetions/ideas, this is absolutely well-meaning folks ok? Looking for new ideas .. ^-^

Yes by the 80's they went to AeroDynics but the only cars to have them from the 1970's was the 1979 Dodge St. Regis..LAPD what what ever stupid reason decided not to use Dodge Monaco, Which made no sense as they had used Dodges in the 1950's before but by the 1960's they stopped, Same with Pontiacs, They had used them before too but stopped by the 1960's. Now there was a dept. that actually was using AeroDynic (besides CHP) in 1977 and up, Bakersfield and the set up is very easy to do, I can provide a pic if one wants but it would be black&white as the book I have on U.S.-Canadian police cars has all black & white pics sadly.

I think it would be best to go with the profile it have on the IMCDB.

http://www.imcdb.org/vehicle_5701-Dodge-Monaco-1977.html

You can also notice there, that they actually did use a Fury from different set, as a back-up (the car that Arnie runs into wall at the end of the chase) but being backup prop, meant only for the crash scene, they just used surplus lightbar on it, and magnetic decals to make it look like a LAPD cruiser.

WiLL

I like the Areo, one better, an the FedSig, light bars, Frank most... ok ^^
An Darkman, thanx for good info, yes I mean I seen that Cop car on Terminator 1st. Old movie was it,
I ment Darkone np man k ;)
Let's have a better day...?

I thought that due to the Olympic games, all LAPD cars in active service got retrofitted with the Aerodynic. But the truth remains that I have no idea how many '78 Plymouths was still in service by the '84. Also LAPD was using the Belvedere, then Satelite for one year, then switched to AMC, and back to Fury in mid seventies (because the ugliness of '74 Matador was too much even for seasoned veterans :P), so unfortunately they had no reason to go with the Monaco. And it's funny that you mentioned '79 St. Regis, because LAPD denies that they purchased anything that year (and if they did, it was the Fairmont).

Odd because they DID have the St. Regis as the 79 was well loved all over Ca. Unlike the 80 which was horrible preformance wise..SLOW!.

Only time I ever saw the LAPD St.Regis was in the "To Live and Die in L.A." movie, in some episodes of the TV shows like Hunter, and of course in that Terminator movie. I mean, I like the car more than the Newport and Gran Fury counterparts, but I never saw the legit photo of one.

And I know that CHP did got them that year, and also complained a lot when the Cali regulations literally murdered everything good about the car, but CHP had lot of Dodges in their motor pool either way.
