np so far for me to brighten it up the tires colour a bit, but respect another issue: please compare both pics showing the trunk lettering of the real NV Fury and the ZModeler pic, it shows that the 'Highway Patrol' lettering is set higher compared to the CHP, more on the edge of the trunk: problem is that the base car mesh isn't as 'smooth' as the real car is at the trunk's edge.
I can either smoothen the trunk edge what means I'd have to update ALL Fury models again or you consider the current mapping state 'ok' as it is :-\

.. btw the tires aren't as dark as you might have felt it but NFS loses colour precision/depth as well as contrast when displaying cars ingame even in 32-bit mode :( .. on the contrary, I gave the tires a somewhat 'lively' colour gradient by using a mapping trick without needing an additional tire sidewall texture ;) (see last detail pic)

best if you see yourself .. attached the current state car.zip file for testing .. any comments are welcome :)

Let me point this out still ... this a completely new texture and livery, as far as I know it hasn't been done before and I had to make for example that arched lettering and colour scheme all by myself, it could not be copied or pasted into and then modified from somewhere else to find pictures what might have been somewhat easier .. so please forgive if it isn't as perfect (metallic paint can also not be displayed in HS -other than in HP2 by using alpha channel- so I tried to make that by a stepped colour gradient) as it could be but I did the best I could -what seemingly isn't good enough though- on that beautiful old paint scheme ;)

.. folks here's an issue that still makes me wonder concerning the rear internal flasher(s) .. on later slicktop cars of the CHP they used to have three internal lights, red, orange and a single blue one on the opposite side of the red and orange one, I have seen videos of that pattern (80'/90's slicktop Ford CV CHP) where red is a steady rear stop light corresponding to that single red frontal facing stop light while the orange and the blue were alternating/flashing (wig wag), but I'm uncertain about older cars like for example the '69 Polara with only two internal lights (like here on the Nevada Fury) with just the red and the orange one next to it. Where both then alternating/flashing or was the red one always being a steady 'stop' light and orange ('traffic warning'?) was solely flashing? :o

HELP!

btw ... is that toning better with the tires? ... but have a look then at the ingame screenie .. even with brightened up tire textures (tire texture gamma value now at an increased 1.25) it wouldn't show up much brighter ... ok this a shot taken on a rather dark part of the track (Redrock Ridge Enhanced btw) ...

Just looked at the test.zip.

The lettering on the trunk (highway patrol) looks o.k. by me, no need to smoothen the trunk's edge.

The wheels have improved. Still I prefer a better texture.I believe there is no space left in the .tga to add one.
Look at the Smokey & Bandits TransAm, the lettering/numbers on the sides give the necessary contrast.

Don't get me wrong I really like your work, keep it up.

FranknFurter

thanks noise for your feedback ... I do apprechiate that alot :)

I attached an altered car.viv with the brightened up tire as well as colour corrected rim textures ... please test it, it also has an altered lighting scheme since Paul gave me some useful information ;)

That's quick work.  thnx both.

Looks better indeed.I also changed graphic settings ''in game'' (higher gamma correction).I'm happy now.

I admire your energy to work on so much cars in so little time.Baardk made a lot of nice American cars. What are your future plans?

FranknFurter

I have the another Fury on my schedule, the 'Calgary City Police' on a suggestion by Max (BrabusAMG) with a large 'double Dietz' lightbar which will then be also a base to some southern States '76 Furys (with different headlights though of course) like in the 'Bandit' movie ..

Got some LTD II foxbased Mustangs still .. an undercover reworked base LTD II as well a WASP LTD II with new textures and lighting scheme and a generic 'Sheriff' LTD II with a classic Twinsonic lightbar as a traffic pursuit replacement.

And, if your interested still, also a very nice old 'square' car, DodgeBoy's 80's Chevy Impala as an undercover cop vehicle with some nice details added and reworked ... ^-^

Let's have a better day...?

Dark One

Impressive work, I have to say.

If anything can wake me up from my slumber, it's a nice fleet of classic patrol cars for the best NFS game ever. And these updated Plymouths, as well as the Monaco, and the LTDs sure brings back lot of memories.
Keep it up.

FranknFurter

... nice to hear, Dark One .. and thanks :)

@WiLL: np pal ur welcome .. but don't tell Annie ..1k ;)

.. being well aware that there's folks like me that don't necessarily like slicktops I made an additional version with a classic Twinsonic lightbar from prototype picture ...

btw has no-one really noticed my mistake on the searchlights before? they're chrome .. not black -LOL

Updt.: Nevada car is uploaded now ..

Have to quote myself here .. :-[

Forgot to mention that there is also the NYPD Fury to do still ... well .. the following pic shows a '75 Fury but I love that NYPD Signal Stat lightbar setup ... =D

You wouldn't believe it ... look at this folks, found it coincidentally .. must be in Northern Germany or at least somewhere else in rural Middle Europe .. ^-^ :police:

Dang .. when I look at all that lighting .. gives me headaches in advance .. ???

MADMAN_nfs

Cool the NYPD Fury  :)
Looking good.
2 Rotators, 4 flashers and head/rearlights; about 14 dummies. Seems possible i guess.
But i know you have higher standards regarding lightbars, than me  :D

FranknFurter

... my old Baardk based '77 NYPD Fury (pic: 'PPLN' .. old) only had the lightbar dummies w/o rear and front flashers but alternating wig-waging foglights (plus headlights) ... but that was already twelve dummies (w/o taillights/reverse gear lights) .. seems my lighting scheme abilities have come towards a 'physical' end now ... but let's see .. -LOL

for anyone who's interested .. there's the old file attached ... if you promise not to shout out laughing, it is more than ten years old now ... ::)

.. but actually, not even as bad as I thought is was (last pic) except for some details and the overall width still .. LOL

Dang I love pictures like these .. (the b/w is actually taken from 'Law and Order' TV series intro) ... they're giving me a ..

.. although I've never been there in my life .. ^-^

Have a Happy New Year today folks! .. and get there safe 'n sound k?

Dark One

Lovely NYPD cruiser. And I won't really laugh, as ten years ago I was on the same boat, and that car looks amazing for something made for two decades old game. =D

Also interesting video. In Germany red lightbar means nothing, but somebody with police car replica going code3 through German countryside... I can actually imagine the locals rushing to see what's going on.

dandresden

At all (my mind said: this would be like "Need For Speed Rivals 1970“)

Lmao

FranknFurter

... making surprisingly fast progress on the NYPD Fury ... still the unit number (rear sides and roof) and the lightbar to do ... that should be it .. :o
