Title: NFS PU
Post by: wiked on Feb 06, 2009, 8:12 AM
Hello to everyone....

i have a problem running NFS PU on a new 2009 Acer notebook running Vista..... I installed the game fine...I clicked the icon to start the game and then the start off screen with the porsche on it appears. Thereafter, all disappear and the screen turms black as if a game is starting in fullscreen.....then it happens. My desktop comes back with resolution distortion and a smallwindow says that ''Porsche.icd is not working''

Can anyone help...???

dual core 1.9 Ghz
4 gb ram
160 gb HD
1239 mb Grafik
Vista Home premium SP1

Thanks

Hmmm, I'm no computer expert but I don't even use notebooks. What brand & model is your video card? I think the normal computer usually has the advantage of running games than notebooks & PU is an old game that shouldn't require much specs to play. I don't think your laptop is bad though.

Some of the NFS games, like NFS HS (NFS4) have been problematic, or so I've heard, on dual core machines; perhaps this is the case with NFS PU as well....but you'll have to wait for someone more knowledgeable on this from here to confirm, that or not.

As far as I am concerned, it should work. I can start NFS6 without problems on my laptop which has 256MB RAM, 20GB HDD & 1.5GHz. This specification is way too less than yours & it alteast should start the game.

That and i haven't heard of many people running PU on Vista.

XP rules compared to Vista imo :D
But yes, I think it may be dual-core problems.
Maybe try the 'Enhanced Version' of PU? It was on ND4SPDWorld.com
