how do i get a new into my NFS high stakes game.....????i mean how do install a car into my game and play???????i need real help please........
Download cars and read instructions. Id your folder nfs high stakes/data/cars create new folder and name it the same as the name of your car and put there car.viv file, it is simple
ok when you click download on a certain car what do you click next
open or save.......and on what do you u save it....??????
Um....you click save and if it asks you tell it to what directory you want to save it to. After that follow the instructions in the readme file that comes with the car; you will find that the majority have one.
so do i save them into some ordinary files and not nfs/data/cars ???????
and what is nfs wizard????????
Nfs wizard is program with which you can edit cars. Download zip file, open it, follow instructions. In most of the instructions it writes extract car.viv file in the nfshs/data/cars/"name of your car"

i tried it but when i go to the game after inserting game cd i don't see additional cars on my regular player car list????why ??? please help
Hey Palmon I went thru this myself years ago : Do this - Download a car you like - Unzip it with Winzip &
read the read text for the correct - car name - then create a folder with that name and put the car.viv in
the folder then Copy or Cut Paste to Program files Electronic Arts Data/Cars its on C drive by default.Also
a good idea to check serial numbers to avoid conflicts.Good Luck.

Right click a two button mouse and click save to my documents.Most computers have a default un-zip program or go to winzip and download a trial program.Then follow the other steps above.
save to your desktop or add folders in your documents like Nfs4hs_Stuff then save there. Unzip at it to the game C:/Programs/ElectronicArts/Data/Cars/ then your car folder should just have four call letter like Murc,or Jagr, or Corv then get NFS Wizard install that and Learn more, Then Get the T`3 Track Editor,make a Huge Track Freak us all out :D ;) yw.
...Will is right more than 4 letters for any car folder and that can crashes to windows. Name of the folder of ur favorite car can be different - 7777, cvvt, baby, door, bich, jack or even susy! Aslo playing game on ur favorite car without pre order to its serial number may get this crash again. And sometimes register entries wont let u install new cars (modified the game).

where can i find winzip on my computer if i have it???????
If you aren't sure you have it, just go to Download.com, type winzip in the search box, wait, and then click on winzip 11.2 or a newer version and then download it. after that, scan the file to make sure it is virus free, (a must nowadays) then install it.

ok this is what i did........i downloaded winzip 11.2 and then downloaded a formula one car and clicked open and then the winzip opened and it said register numberand all......then i clicked the evaluation version and there i clicked and highlighted the car.viv file and extracted it to the file told to create from the readme file.....and then i started the game and went to single player and looked at the car list and it didn't show that car???????????
What version of NFS 4 do you have? There are some versions that won't let you use addon cars. If you have one of these versions you will have to update the game to a different version. I think version 4.50 is ok for this but I am not sure.
If you download expansion pack, you will have f1 cars and all addon cars will work.
were to download this expansion pack and i don't know what version my nfs game is sorry i checked the properties of the game but it doesn't show anything????????????
Try looking at the game disk, it might say what version it is, or in the readme file for the game. The EP is available online. Try searching for it on Google or Yahoo or whatever search engine you prefer.

I would wait a moment before installing the Expansion Pack - not that there's anything wrong with the EP, but I fear at this moment it might confuse things more, because of all the extra stuff it installs.
palmon: When you tried to install the car with Winzip: did you create a new folder in your \data\Cars folder in your NFS HS installment, give that folder a short (4-5 characters) name, and move the CAR.VIV in there, that was in the Zipfile? If you did that right, then the car should work in the game.
Perhaps you have a different language version of the game? There are some addon cars that only work in the English version, but not in the French, Spanish, etc.

Ok look at it this way for example. Say you are getting an Aston Martin Vanquish. Download the car's zipped file. Unzip it. Read the readme file if it is there. In your NFS game files on your hard drive, look for your NHF 4 (or whatever it is called)/data/cars folder and make a new folder in the cars folder with a 4 letter name, the one that the readme file suggest. For example, if you downloaded an Aston Martin Vanquish, the readme file might suggest that you call the folder you make in the cars folder, say amvq, for the astom martin vanquish. In this folder you extract the car.viv file from the downloaded zip file for the Aston Martin Vanquish.

I know basing on personal exp. that its impossible explaing to rookie something on forum. He need few punches about what exactly he is doing with it. Its possible only in live talk trough messanger. :D
Palmon it is possible to use addon cars, it is just that certain versions of the game, by this I mean like version 4.??? as opposed to vfersion to version 4.5 don't work with addon cars for some reason. I also think you have to have a FULL INSTALL of the game on your pc. Find an update online to version 4.5 and you should be fine. Try download.com they might have the update there.
Seriously, what buck is saying makes perfect sense, it's as easy as making one new folder and putting the car.viv file in there. Forget about the expansion pack.
I didn't even get into that because, I myself don't even have the Expansion Pack.

guys am trying the bestt i could but the added car doesn't show up on the game ..........and by the way my nfs game is copied cd not the original cd..........game is wrtten onto another which i have not the original one.........that might make sense why i can't use addon cars .........anyway don't worry about this thread anymore.....i think i can't use add on cars........

ok i downloaded the winzip 11.2 and then i went to download car and downloaded a certain car and then the winzip automatically opened and the files showed in the list on winzip i double clicked the readme file and read the instructions and created a new folder in the data/cars/
and then i went back to the winzip and highlighted the car.viv file by clicking once and clicked on extract files on the top menu of winzip program and then i put the address in there where to extract the car.viv file......after that i just started the game and went to single player game and check on the car list and it din't show the new car that i downloaded.........?????
Well, that sounds like you did everything right... can't really think of a logical reason why it won't show up, :dunno: could you tell us exactly which car it was from this site?
I guess it does make sense that you're not using a real NFS CD, but then again you can get a brand new copy of NFS4 on eBay for only a couple dollars
Do this.
Extract the car.viv on the desktop & then copy it to your NFS4 directory/Data/Cars & the folder you have created.
At least his game is not crashing from a serial number conflict :rolleyes:
Good point. Though don't addon cars not work if you don't have a full install?
I was thinking about this really 2 days ago when i was here last, Do you use the Disc CD to play the game well i never do. Well i think NFS Cars site has an Update that you can play NFS`4Hs with out the CD anyways. Im thinking your Game is Write Protected goinside the game,in Programs right Click on the whole EA Folder go too Propertys and in the box take out the read only,then apply to that all folders etc. Thats the only way i can Mod TDU also that way. I dont use any CD's when i play a Game its all from the HD on Full Installs Like Buck Said like. ;)
That's sort of what I was getting at. If you don't use a full install the game reads the dars from the cd, not your hard drive and hence addon cars won't work, but if you have a full install it reads the cars from your Hard Drive, then the cars you add are loaded from there too and should work barring other errors.
