i've just completed a car for NFS:HS and i don't know how to lock the cars.

I hate locked cars.
Some times locked cars do problems.
And if i need rescale or edit for my personal use a car(eg replace carp or delete any part), i can't
I never used locked cars,hehe.

Normally I have noticed that F-Body Faction members lock their cars.

Use viv magic to open the viv then save it, it'll be locked.

Unless someone else uses VIV magic on it too... There's really no such thing as a truly locked car.

I'm pretty sure most people that modify viv files either use NFS or VIV wizard to open them, and in that case they would be locked, I think you can open locked VIV files in VIVEdit, but it only works on certain files.

As far as I m concerned VIV cant be locked. Only fce can be locked. VIV can be opened in VIVEdit as said by TS. I had once downloaded acar & when I tried to import the fce in ZModeler, it said 'the file is locked & cannot be imported'

Ummm... download one of F-Body-Faction's locked cars and try to open it with VIV Editor. It'll say "memory could not be allocated", while NFS Wizard shows an empty car.viv. Don't know about other viv-editors, though. But HEX-locked cars shouldn't be that easy to access.

I used to know how to lock cars in a way you could still change serial numbers with Serial Number Editor and/or Car Checker, while not being able to open the file with either NFS Wizard (well it would open but no content would be displayed) or VIV Magic. I found it out by unlocking one of MANUTIUS' cars (the Countach?). Unfortunately I don't remember exactly what you had to do, but it was very simple and, in fact, ineffective, since by using the appropriate tools and following a bit of common sense it was very easy to figure out.
