Hi all.
I haven't been on a lot... but I'm really happy because I've finally found the locations of aftermarket parts dealers in Winnipeg, my hometown if you didn't catch on.
So, I have opened up this poll to ask you... do you think it's really worth it for me, Wesley, to tune my 1996 Honda Civic EX Sedan?
Go ahead and vote... but I'll give you some info about me that might change your mind.
1) I am not a ricer.
2) I am not loaded... so I won't be able to have EVERYTHING.
3) I have plans already which are listed below.
My plans:
JDM Honda EK9 Headlights (Gunmetal finish)
http://speedfactorracing.com/images/lighting/headlights/jdm%20honda/96-98-civic-popup.jpg
Anzo Red/White Taillights ('96 Civic Sedan)
http://speedfactorracing.com/images/lighting/taillights/honda/LHT-LTL-HC964RD.htm
16" Konig Helium (not sure which finish: silver or bronze?... just need a 4-lug)
http://speedfactorracing.com/images/wheels/rims/konig-helium-popup.jpg
I'm still searching up other stuff... but feel free to suggest stuff to add or change in my list. :)
Cheers!
Wesley.
DO IT! DO IT!
Wheres the spoiler?
Hehe... maybe you could make a suggestion? I've seen a bunch... like stock-looking ones with LED brake lights on it (or without). I don't really want it super super stock looking nor really Veilside stuff, I mean... I just want this clean.
And you're an RCT3 fan? LOL
I say sure, but not too ricey. more streamlined and laidback, until you pull of the line that is, then it is hardcore automotive power!
Er, you should probalby try to get some uprated anti-roll bars and brakes, and if possible re-tune the ECU. A new exhaust would also be nice
1. JDM EK9 Heads
2. 6000K HIDs - not too ricey
3. LED Taillights
4. 4pot/2pot Front/Rear VTTR brakes (http://www.vttr.com.tw/edefault.asp)
5. Supersprint exhaust for 96' 1.6l ESi (http://www.supersprint.com/homeuk.htm)
6. Gunmetal Rays G-Games 77W (http://www.rayswheels.co.jp/cgi-bin/cgi2/english/getWheelItem.cgi?maker=GAMES&model=050_77W)
7. Damper kit (http://www.spoon.jp/product/pdfs/p54_p61.pdf)
8. Simota CF Aero Form. (Alternative: K&N drop-in filter) (http://www.simota.com/pro_in_fiber.php#02)
9. Denso Iridium plugs (http://www.globaldenso.com/PLUG/power/features.html)
10. LED replacements all round (White, mind you, not blue! :p)
What color is your Civic btw?
EDIT: This is just basic... Unless you have cash for lightened pulleys, etcetcetc...

Yes..ever since RCT1.
Heres some questions':
Is your Civic a hatchback?
What color is your Civic?
How many doors?
Car is out right now... so no pictures yet... but as I mentioned before... it's a sedan (IT'S FOUR DOORS LOL) and it is the stock bright silver paint.
The specs for car as of now is:
- 5-speed AT
- 14" caps (put in just to make you laugh)
- Er... 1.6L engine?
- Some American site says 127 HP and 107 lb-fts torque. But don't know where to find a dyno for readings.
This car isn't really in tip-top condition... i.e. row of dents on the rear left door, a few other dents other places. Interior is pretty good, though the dash is quite 'dim' compared to other cars. To be honestly, the seats are much more comfortable than the 2007 Civic.
Only 'changes' on the car right now are:
- New air filter (generic brand)
- Five-speed tranny swap (original four-speed tranny failed)
- Blue window tint... it was there when we got it used... and I'm not particularly impressed with it.
- Painted-over rust near both the rear wheel wells.
Since this car isn't in the best condition as I said before... it would be nice to get some basic tune-up tips to get the car running nicely.
Performance will definitely be first, though the first couple exterior mods would be nice, considering that there are ONLY 14" caps right now, and the headlight support has snapped and is no longer connected to the frame. I really don't care about taillights. What I really want to know... is how to "tint" the taillights to match the headlights sort of.
For performance, it could be nice if people explain whatever they're suggesting does to the car, since I am unexperienced. Remember... I'm not loaded! So keep it simple...
Forgot to mention last time... I might head out to the junkyard on the outskirts of town to find some matching color door because of the dents and also because one of the rear windows aren't able to go back up.
By the way... the place where I'm looking this stuff up is at http://www.speedfactorracing.com, which is the website for a local aftermarket parts dealer.
Thanks for feedback!
@ThEoNeS: I used to play them LOL but it took too much of my time haha.
Whoops, guess I didn't pay attention to you post :p
Okay then, updated to reflect changes... :P
Mods:
1. JDM EK9 Heads
2. 6000K HIDs (http://www.speedfactorracing.com/lighting-hid-brands.html $324.99 o.O) + white pole lights (usually T10-sized)
3. LED Taillights (http://www.speedfactorracing.com/images/lighting/taillights/honda/LHT-LTL-HC923BYD.htm)
4. 4pot Spoon Sports front [or rear, depending if it's FWD or RWD] (http://www.speedfactorracing.com/brakes-calipers-brands.html)
5. Spoon Cat-back exhaust (http://www.speedfactorracing.com/engine-exhaust-cataxleback.html)
6. 17" Enkei RSV (http://www.speedfactorracing.com/wandt-wheels-enkei.html)
7. Tein S-Tech (http://www.speedfactorracing.com/suspension-springs-brands.html)
8. K&N drop-in filter(http://www.speedfactorracing.com/engine-induction-intakes.html)
9. Denso Iridium plugs (http://www.globaldenso.com/PLUG/power/features.html)
Misc:
1. REMOVE BLUE WINDOW TINTING :p
2. Respray and remove dents on doors and whatnot
3. Tint heads and tails light black
4. Dash/speedo LED replacements (usually T5-sized)
:D
Respray? What color? lol
Taillights are for the coupe, and tinting the ones that you've suggested would do nothing really... I would rather tint a stock-looking one. I don't even know how to tint... so... help me out. :)
I don't really know how to replace the dash/speedo gauges with LED's though... so... help me out once again lol. :)
17" rims?... Hmmm... I'll see... don't want them too big... just trying to be practical lol
Anyways... any intermediate tuning suggestions?
By the way... '07 brakes are getting squeaky for some reason... probably because we don't drive it too often... anyways... I'll update you about the problem.
Respray white, maybe?
Tinting is easy. Just get some film and paste it over.
Replacement with LEDs, hmmmn, gotta look for someone with experience i guess. :p
If not 17", then maybe 15" or 16"?
Tuning, maybe the spark plugs and openpod might help a bit with a small budget.
For the 07' brakes, maybe could try replacing the pads or changing to a cheap set of slotted discs?
:D
Hmph... what kind of "paste" do you mean? And respray white isn't the most ideal thing to do in this city... especially when you get slush and melting snow... it's just not practical to get a white car... this silver is fine for now... unless I get replacement doors than are different colors.
16" rims is ideal for a smooth ride... and enough tire to take on the potholes... *doh*
Any recommended brand of spark plugs? I'm finding a set for about $120 CAD average.
The '07 Civic brakes I wouldn't bother about... my dad says we just need to drive it more.
Just apply them and smoothen it out. Simple. :p
16" for potholes are good. :D
for sparkies, go for Denso Iridium plugs. 0.4mm gap. Going for around SGD$70 in Singapore, about CAD$50.
:D
I got it which civic it is. Its the one from NFS8:U2/NFS7:U. I like that Civic. Use 17inch wheels. I liked that Konig rim which you posted. Also use the LED taillights. They look good. SPoiler's a must for Civic. Otherwise it wont look good. Dont go for bumpers & other body parts. They rice. Thats what I think.
Random pictures have been taken. :)
Sorry for bad quality... was using my Pocket PC.

So... hopefully that gives you good enough of an idea of what things really look like. I couldn't really get a front view... parked to close to front of garage.
HECK YEAH!

(no I do not actually use this car in DC, I use a Celica.)
Hmmmn, condition not bad overall, suggest you take a side profile shot and slowly photoshop your selected rims on one by one.
And THOS, (http://www.hardwarezone.com/img/forums/styles/hwz/smilies/wobble.gif).
Hey Thats my car! I also own that same car. But here, taillight is changed & it is called Honda City. Its really a nice car to modify. Many people rice it. Its got looks.
Oh yes.
The Civic is ricer heaven.
:D

Like my crew?
Civics = Ricerolets.
Recall... I AM NOT A RICER. lol
Can somebody look for a nice spoiler on the website I gave? I'm looking for a fairly small one with an LED brakelight that fits nice with the shape of the car. To find em... you gotta actually go to click the link to the external site under the aftermarket description.
And by the way... I should get some pictures of the "damage" on the car. (i.e. dents)
Hopefully I can get those headlights soon. Don't think bulb is included... so Xenon is also an option too.
WHat do you think about this spoiler?

Get a simple bootlid spoiler. Not ricey.

You think grille is ricey?
Why? lol
I think it looks nice lol
Carbon Fibre is ricey on Civics lol.
But hey, if you like it, who give a piss about what others think? :p
Well... CF is lighter... and the grille isn't really noticeable... and besides... I'd rather have that CF grille rather than this one: http://seiboncarbon.com/pdut_detail_pic.asp?ItemID=126. :eek3:

Sorry for going off topic in your thread, Wesley.
@rapzeh: I'll uninstall DC, then try to give you a pic by pic tutorial. Also, install the plug in, and use Internet Explorer.
Haha... it's OK lol...
Anyways... I got a price check on those headlights... a lil pricier than I expected... $200 CAD + tax.
I think I can get a set off an eBay store for just around $100 CAD. So... I'll update you when I find the one.
For performance you can replace the exhaust and tune the ECU central for a start, they give a nice boost in horsepower and won't make the car unwieldy in the city. Brake upgrades could accompany them but are not really necessary. Remember you're not building a racecar here so I guess you should focus on the exterior if you want a custom vehicle.
Brake upgrades are a good idea. YOu could always just switch to good vented discs to save weight and improve the heat dissipation of the brakes. Decent quality tires are a smart choice too, especially if you intend to drive it in the winter too, cause they don't call it Winterpeg for nothing. "Portage and Main 15 below* rings true.....and cold.
DONT DO IT WES?!?!?!
haha just joking... seems like uve put a lotta thought it this... gl if u do it
Looking good, Wesley. I like it :D
Alrighty... some more pictures, just got a wash.

So... basically... some of the damage it came with there and the fugly blue window tint with a kleenex box in the window...
