Title: Unknown car in screenshot (nfs4)
Post by: noise on Sep 05, 2006, 11:43 AM
Looking in the screenshot archive, I found this:

http://www.nfsg.net/?topic=screenshot&gv=hs&type=sotd&date=2005-10-20

I'd like to know if I can download this car (in front).I can't find it anywhere.

It's a Chevy Bel Air... I've never seen it, though. I rarely download cars older than the 50s.

@Mike:

I allready have the '57 Belair by Tim Bauer. The car in the screenshot looks more like '55 Belair like Old Iron said.

How can I see who made the SOTD from the unknown Chevy. It's definitly not the Belair from Tim Bauer.

Sorry fellas, I have been away for a while, I didn't see this (and other posts) until now.

About the identity of the car in the foreground: it is indeed a '55 Bel Air, and it is made by 311_Hive (or "Shaundaddy", as his other online nickname used to be). Shaundaddy of course also made the 1957 hardtop BelAir that Tim Bauers' is an evolution from.
The '55 was Shaundaddy's last NFS4-related work, and if I remember well, was only released as a beta of sorts. It was never posted on a site, only as a direct download link on the NFSCheats forums. (I don't remember if the '55 was directly related to the Detroit Muscle mod, that people back in 2001 were still trying to get released)
I have been meaning to upload the car to the NFS garage for a while now, but always passed it on for reasons I'm not sure of. Could be that it felt a little unfinished, and that I imagined I should 'fix' a few things on it first (the wheels have no 'insides' for example).
Maybe I should simply stop procastrinating such things and upload the car in its current state. Shaundaddy has always been pretty lenient about converting/modding his releases, so there wouldn't be too many moral objections to people wanting to fine-tune it, I suppose (with proper credit, of course)

(edit: also, I made that sotd. :P )

Thanks remko,

You did make most of the SOTD back in 2005 didn't you. It's nice to see some underrated cars like Studebaker Avanti (only uploaded on nd4spdworld) / Tucker and Citroen SM for instance.

The Detroit Muscle Mod is still worth downloading I think. It has some very nice unreleased cars in it.

I really hope you will upload the '55 Chevy Bel Air

Well congrats on your eagle-eyedness, but aside from the fact that not all of us are specialists in 1950s American Automobiles (although I am under the impression that noise happens to be quite knowledgeable when it comes to cars) I think his main point was that he'd never seen this car in the game before and was wondering where it could be downloaded.

Please read a thread (especially the first post) well before replying to it.

Oh Please.
You were the first one to start getting clever here by bumping a 3-month old thread only to criticize the thread starter for supposedly not being sharp enough. Then I treat you the same way and immediately it's "waah, you cannot do this, you're all targeting me, etc. :((" So apparently sarcasm suddenly stops being funny when it goes the other direction eh?

I'm not approaching you because you are new, that is not a crime. I'm only asking, with pretty please and everything, that you you follow this forums posting rules and use good judgment in the threads and replies that you post, I don't think that is too much to ask...

I started this thread because I saw an unreleased nfs4 car in a screenshot. Now it's availible thanks to Remko, who is always very polite and helpfull in his posts.I thought everybody happy.

Tuners Rock says:
''Hey man, if you look closely to the side youll see bel air, duh. Plus im not trying to offend u but its says it in plain view''

I did see that too.You didn't want to offend me, so case closed.
