Title: nfsmw ps2 engine sound missing?
Post by: luckyluca on May 16, 2007, 4:32 PM

Hello,

this is my first post :)
I've bought Need for speed Most wanted second hand for playstation2.
I really like it however I feel frustrating that it lacks engine sound from bumper camera and windshield camera. Engine sound from external views is ok. I tried to change the sound options to mono or stereo but it doesn't make a difference. Well the sound appears when inside a tunnel or in specific situations. The only way to get a resemblance of engine sound is by setting all sound volumes to 40% and car sound to 100%. But even so the engine sound is very loud in basses.
When the camera is behind the car the sound is great... it's such a pity that it doesn't work with internal view.
Any idea? could it be because the disk is slightly scratched?

thanks
Luca

a disc being scratched will not result in sound quality failure.

the development of MostWanted would most probably be the creation of that certain problem.

sadly there is nothing we can do to help you fix this problem.

It's probably the way you have the audio set up on your TV speakers, change the audio settings wihle playing so you can fix the problem right.

second hand eh? try hooking the audio up to a sound system and check if it's the same or different... could also be the speakers itself... maybe it got damaged... somehow haha... and also check for balanced audio so it's not just the right side or left side.

hmmm With the current settings/ hardware setup the engine sound is great when viewing the car from behind; but as soon as I switch to bumper or windshield camera it becomes very muddy and too faint to hear, very low.
At first I thought the sound might be sent to absent back speakers, but I even tried mono, just in case :)
I'll try different cables and standard tv speakers and get back to you.

Thanks

well really... you're supposed to get the louder sound for bumper and windshield... maybe it's an issue of bass volume... cuz the lower engine sounds may not be goin on your tv... not sure.

Sorry I didn't understand do you mean you had the same behaviour on your gamecube version?
very faint (almost inexistent) engine volume in bumper/windshield camera ?

thanks
