Title: Ehm, whats up with the site?
Post by: RobertLidstroem on Apr 14, 2007, 3:03 AM
Hi!

Every time i open a carpage to view a car in NFSHS or whatever, the page loads and then when its done i get sent to:

http://www.errorsafe.com/pages/scanner/index.php?aid=finesets&lid=swf7&ax=1&ex=1&ed=2

"Anslutningen avbröts

Anslutningen till servern återställdes under hämtningen av sidan.

    *   Platsen kan tillfälligt vara nere eller upptagen. Försök igen om en
          stund.

    *   Om du inte kan öppna nÃ¥gon sida alls, kontrollera datorns
          nätverksanslutning.

    *   Om datorn eller nätverket skyddas av en brandvägg eller proxy, kontrollera
att Firefox har tillstÃ¥nd att ansluta till webben."

Sorry, swedish message, but it means:
"The connection to the server has been reset" yadda yadda, same page as if i pull my internetcable out.

Now, other sites works great, but this happens every 30 seconds :S

Whats up with that?

Ohh.. So when you click on a link to view a car, you get redirected to that page? Is that's so, you've got adware/spyware on your computer. Download Spybot Search&Destroy (http://www.safer-networking.org/en/spybotsd/index.html) and scan your computer with it. Delete the found spyware and reboot your PC.

dont you mean antivirus program?

anyways, i've scoped through the pages, and I hadn't been sent anywhere.

Im thinking its time you format.  then after you reinstall everything, dont go pornsurfing. more than 50% of all virii, malware, spyware, tracker cookies, and other problems come from pornsites.

also firefox, adblock, adblock plus, and a decent hosts file will protect you from 97% of those type of sites as well.  it has for me..

but i guess being around PCs and the internet long enough, anyone can know what they're doing.

Occasionaly but I will reinstall as soon I get some time cause the mentioned things about url history and the other hints works but only temporarely
I don't format and reinstall just because of this my pc needs it cause it's slow and this will help for some months.
I do this once a year and have done it since my first pc with the old and annoying OS Win95 :)

proper maintenance of your PC will yield less problems and longer uptime.  Not having to reinstall is a backburner goal of any PC user.. if you learn more about PCs you will have been educated enough to keep your PC clean and running smoothly for years.

Downloading content from certain sites will always result in karma.

You want something, you get it along with the curse of EULA.

Sinister:
The sites I know that gives my pc those annoying things I need to visit,at least when doing work from home,I need those tools, the work pc is a tool with all those tools already there but much more powerful versions.

I would be happy if someone could teach me in an easy way cause everyone I ask, friends and IT technicians at work well all seems so secret even the simpliest question will be answered with just hints not direct and clear.
And the first help I ever got was just these words,"we reinstall cause it's the easiest thing" and no explanation what I could do to have my pc well functioning and not needed reinstalling to work properly.
So if you could give me advice where to go and get more info in an easy language and not to technical I would be happy.
And I must warn you I'm old so it takes me time to learn :) hmm,my english is not the best either so..

Do you have any hints on how to keep the pc working year after year with no reinstalling and stuff?
I use the usuall windows defragmentation, and diskcleaning tools, but if there are more I can do I would be glad to know :)

Imo...this problem is caused by a simple troyan that redirect you to that ad. If you see that they told you that you have 40 or 30 troyans and malware don't believe it, that's just a simple flash animation. RobertLidstroem saw it in Swedish, some of you will see it in English and I saw it in Spanish. Is a stupid ad telling you to purchase and anti-malware software using their own malware.
When I came to Barcelona I had the same problem with my computer because my big brother enter to some "bad" sites, not pornographic, it was one from Yahoo were he have a virtual soccer team. So I really think that sentences like this one: Im thinking its time you format.  then after you reinstall everything, dont go pornsurfing. more than 50% of all virii, malware, spyware, tracker cookies, and other problems come from pornsites. it's not quite correct since not everybody that get malware and spyware do pornsurfing.

I installed Ad-ware and some other similar software, I deleted the troyan that was in a cookie and never show me the message again. I really enjoy formating computers and trying new things, but I have never done that for stupid reasons like this one.

Most users dont realize a good hosts file will prevent most bad sites from being accessible.
also using firefox, you reduce the number of which is there to less, using ad-block extensions

for example..
my hosts file may block 85 out of 100 bad sites,  adblocking by firefox prevents me from being tracked to another 10., leaving 5 unaccounted for, and still vulnerable to.. now those 5 sites are most probably either a p2p, Zeroday download, or crack sites, which i dont go to anyways.

then on the otherside, after browsing, clearing cache, cookies, and temp folders definately help to prevent the spread of tracker cookies or other malware.  leaving only virii.  which are already avoidable by not downloading unverified files.

Who hasn't replied? me or RobertLidstroem?

I don't use a real anti-virus neither, well, avast, but it's free and not really good. But I don't have virus problems since I stop using Floppy Disks :) (Dammit Barrotes Virus). I  remember that once my elder brother infect our computer with a virus from a Floppy Disk of Day of the Tentacle, what a great game.

I just use Anti-Spyware and, except for my elder Brother incursions, my computers are quite safe and without problems. Oh, And I also use FF with the ad-block extension...I love FF.

Well, I use IE and that one is not safe, but I use an antivirus program and an popup blocker and Ad-aware
But to keep the pc healthy, well, still no hints on how to do it except the usuall windows stuff but that was ecpected cause help when needed is not there, maybe those who have "all" the knowledge will keep it as a mystery for others, simply don't care about the reason and will not ask any more question for hints on the topic.
now my pc works without any trojans or whatever in it and what I did well, the usuall thing
But it will probably happen again cause the tools needed are not allowed to leave work in any form:-)
Hope the starter of this thread got the help he needed
Regards

Wikipedia always have  all the information you might  need. ;)

QuoteWikipedia:
WinFixer, WinAntiVirus, ErrorSafe, SystemDoctor and DriveCleaner are identical or similar computer programs available for Microsoft Windows that claim to repair computer system problems. They are forcibly installed on the victim's computer by the SysProtect vector. They display false information with regards to a user's computer, thereby confusing said user into believing their PC is infected with viruses, spyware and/or other forms of malware. The adverts pop up a display with notifications to convince the user that something may be amiss with the computer, or run a fake diagnostic. The program repeatedly prompts the user to purchase a licensed copy of the program.

Due to these problems, WinFixer and its sister applications are generally considered scareware spyware. Indeed, their misleading popups and forced downloads mirror the infection strategies of many spyware programs. Computers infected with this trojan also exhibit sluggish performance.
Please...never believe Errorsafe and its sisters.

Jaume08: well, for starters thanx:) but the things about what wikipedia says about Errosafe and it's sisters I already know:) What I'm interseted in is to know how to maintain the pc work for years as someone stated his pc does, how to perform that? I use the windows disccleaning windows defragmention but is there more to do?
Maybe this could be found in Wikipedia too??:)
Thanx again
