Compressed Zip Folder Issues:
For some reason, downloading things from this site causes problems. Whenever I download something from this site, it downloads only 28 KB. Somehow, the folder appears on my desktop as my computer thinks that it downloaded the whole file.
Now this is the message that comes up when I click on the folder:
The Compressed (zipped) folder is invalid or corrupted.
Is there any way to fix this?
NOTE: I have no problem downloading compressed folders from other sites.
Hmm, any file you try to download? I just tried and everything seemed to work OK for me
I tried again today and it seems the downloads work only if the file is smaller than 28 KB. But really, no progress. :(
Still can't download anything.:( Any help will be appreciated.
I've looked into it, but I'm not sure what is going on :( Do you have any problems downloading from other sites?
I've tested NFSG on a bunch of different computers and everything seems to be fine :(
Have you already tried a different browser?

Nope. I can download perfectly from other sites.
Quote from: XJ220Have you already tried a different browser?
No, but I will see if I can change my browser settings or even get a whole new browser, yet I doubt this has anything to deal with the browser I am using.
do you use firefox or internet explorrer?
I use Firefox and have the save problem EVEN I.E.!
Quote from: Freak-DSdo you use firefox or internet explorrer?
I use internet explorer and this is the only site I have problems with.
Hmm, this is so weird. I've tried a bunch of different browsers from a bunch of different computers, and haven't had any problems.
Try this link, let me know if this file works:
http://www.nfsg.net/files/nfs4/cars/ford/1997CV.zip
If it does, then it must be something in the download script, and I'll take a look.
Works for me!
Internet Explorer is sometimes too stupid for show some pages or dl some files correctly from newer scripts

It is giving me the same problems again!:(
I also tried a different browser and nothing seems to be different. I'm guessing that this has nothing to do with the browser.
Wiked.. now i've got the same problem ?!
Hmm.......How do you become a moderator?
what zip program are you guys using?
I'm using winrar.
It's like crazy.Yesterday i can't download any file, i've rebooted my pc yesterday, but this didn't work. Now i triede to dl some files and now it works.
Hmm.... How do you become a Moderator
@2fastvipergts: Hmm.... how do you spam?
On-topic: Did either of you try to update IE with the Windows-Update? It's not the best browser imo, but it seems to be compatible with everything you find in the internet so it should be the first browser to try out. Otherwise, I'd recommend a download program if that's supported by the NFSG server(s?).
Sorry,Just Wanted To Know
Updating Internet Explorer doesn't help. It still gives me the same problems.
Are you using any sort of download accelerator?
Just came across this, maybe it will help?

Well I just about tried every file on this site and nothing different.:(
OK. Now I'm giving you all the details:
1) I click on a download link from this site.
2) It comes up with
'Do you want to save or open this file'. 3) I click save and I save the file on my desktop.
4) Now I see that it is downloading. Notice that when you start downloading, it shows you the bar which is the overall progress of the download. When I start downloading, the bar is all the way to the left (which where it's supposed to be). Two seconds later, the bar goes all the way to the right assuming that the download is completed. I have dial-up so it doesn't take 5 seconds to download 2 MB (more like 10 minutes if you ask me ). I see that the zip file is already on my desktop and it only downloaded 30 KB. Now I click on the zip and it gives me the same damn message over and over (file is invalid/corrupted....blah,blah...OH JUST SHUT UP!:P).
Quote from: MikeAre you using any sort of download accelerator?
I never did download anything that had to do with accelerating downloads. It wouldn't help anyway since I have dial-up (ugh!).
Hopefully, all the info might help you a little bit.
Oh yeah....I also tried other sites such as NFSCars and their zips seem to be working. :)
Thanks for the info. I'm stumped. I'll forward that onto a server administrator friend of mine and see if he has any ideas. Might be some kind of weird server setting making your browser think the file is in your cache or something

when i feel we're in need of some more, I'll let you know
I just wan`t to be a mod..:(
I also have this problem I've tried downloading a few cars with the same results. I use Internet Explorer with no download accelerators or anything else and I am on dialup as well but mine is even crappier it runs more like 19 kbps *ugh*. I can only get as high as 200 kbs before the download closes on its own. Wierd huh?
Yup. Dial-up sucks. I've seen speeds even set at 10 kbps.:( Only on good days will I see it go up to 38 kbps.
mine is dial-up.usally 45.8-51.8kbs.Sucks.
Hi,
I don't have problems downloading files from NFSG and I use IE & Firefox... (only once where the file was missing)
I use DSL connection, WinRAR and sometimes ReGet...
Well for one thing, it's not the browser. I tried Avant and Firefox and both give the same problems. :( I also deleted cookies but that didn't help either.
Forgot to ask, are you using WinRar? Had a few reports of problems with the Camaro concept, but people that were using winrar didn't seem to have a problem
No I am not using WinRar.
Try downloading WinRar (http://www.rarlab.com) and see if that helps.
It doesn't help. I opened the zip file and it says "unexpected end of archive"
Like Mike, I am stumped as to why Files from NFSG give problems and those from NFscars don't... All I can really think of would be to use a download manager (If you didn't already) to prevent files from being corrupted when you download them.
I used Getright back when I had dial-up connection myself, and was very thankful for it.

Hehe, I think the new server is better since I don't have anymore downloading problems. :bigthumb:

Sweet!!!
And it's faster to download too, Mike. Speeds can top 6-7 kb/sec on my dial-up. :D
