"Last rides with high stakes"

I thought NO! Butch quits with nfs4....

But it's latest W.I.P, that sounds better.

Hope this topic will stay active.

The Lancia is a great kick off.

@nfsfan83:

Cars looks a lot like a Banshee concept (Fbody faction made one), make it black and you're pretty close to your moviecar.

If Miami Vice can use a Corvette based Ferrari Daytona, why can't we be a little creative.

Hi.
I only have to translate colors of the BMW turbo, and it wil be release without dash; maybe tomorrow.

I also work on the P1800. I'm trying to convert the dash I modelised for GT Legend.
Without rollcage, and race stuff ...etc and only one 512x512 TGA.

The GT Legend dash.

Gt Legends is/was a serious simracing with furious championship online and complex physic model.
I met talented people (physic and sound) to make these addons possible. we where a team. My part was 3D and textures 100% from scratch. Our Triumph Tr4 was the first complete and online playable addon car for this simulation.

I've heard of GT Legends but never played it. That game has incredible cars in it. but this one below my post is the one that takes the cake, the DeTomaso Pantera GTS.

Anyway, looking forward for the BMW Turbo Concept!

It's a hard game with a serious and passionate community.

I don't think people will have some fun immediately, without good handwheel. Many people give up.
But modders released around 500 tracks -> altbierbude track downloads (https://www.altbierbude.de/component/option,com_gtlreporter/Itemid,48/lang,en/)
and around 180 cars. -> altbierbude car download (https://www.altbierbude.de/component/option,com_gtlreporter/Itemid,46/lang,en/)

To show you level of interest, some people have modelised the 70 kilometers of the Targa Florio.
My team released 8 cars. Some of them are upgrade of my NFS cars: Iso grifo, 904 GTS, 250 GTO (and some others will follow the reverse way: 250 SWB and P1800, don't worry).
I wasn't the most invested and I have an average level in modding, but when I said we released the '62 250 GTO, we released every '62 250 GTO. ->  Ferrari 250 GTO (https://www.altbierbude.de/component/option,com_gtlreporter/Itemid,46/Mode,carlist/lang,en/?option=com_gtlreporter&Itemid=46&Mode=carlist&class=*&vehicle=Ferrari+250+GTO&limit=50).
4 Go of datas were needed to check every details (mirrors, RWD or LWD, side or rear exaust ....etc).

Converted cars were forbidden in championship, only from scratch. That's what attracted me.

Oh I almost forgot, it's also good that you like concept/rare cars such as the Lancia Stratos Zero for example!

And you and your team's work for GT Legends is incredible.

As for the Volvo P1800 and the Ferrari 250 GTO SWB, take your time.

About the Volvo P1800 in the showroom (https://www.nfsaddons.com/showroom/nfshs/8103/butch-volvo-p1800.html).

Quote from: Cooya from showromShe is a beauty queen! Thank you sooo much for coming back to NFS4 modding.

But this time I have a little problem with the proportions of your car. The real P1800 looks extremely slender and elegant... your model looks a little bit like a "plus size model"... just a little bit too "chubby" because the whole car bend too much from topview and the side skirts do not bend enough under the car.. if you can understand what I mean :D

I try to show it:

https://abload.de/img/8103_1biacrp.jpg

I agree, and I think the trouble comes from the old blueprint I used. (attached)

I've found another one much more accurate and I'll try to make it match with the pictures I collect.

Post by: Cooya! on May 15, 2023, 4:31 AM
Yes...! It´s obvious that the new blueprint looks A LOT better than the old one. But I think the proportion issues with the "chubby body" of your car is an easy fix with just moving some polygon edges around. Face and tail of your car already look very pretty ;)

Title: Re: Last rides with high stakes
Post by: Cooya! on May 16, 2023, 2:51 PM
Oh... yes! It looks muuuuch better now.

Just one little thing: The doors chrome trim at the b-pillar does not touch the window trim... there is a little space:

And a last tiny little thing: Make sure that the frontbumper´s horns don´t penetrate the grille. Bend them a little more forward at the upper edge ;)

WiLL - I haven't this trouble on my old A4 with firefox.  Maybe administrator will find a solution.

EvoX - maybe my old GTO could be upgrade with my GT Legends meshe.

About the swb will stay under the 10000 triangles. The dashboard will come from GT Legends like the P1800.  The license plate won't be customisable because nearly square on this car.

Thank you.
It's the very begonning but I think it will be released next week.

Spectre -> I love the XJ13. But for modding, it already exist on Forza, Gran Turismo, Asseto Corsa and CSR classic. There are many converter to adapt it. You will tell me the cobra, p1800 and swb are also available. And I will answer they weren't available when I modelised them for mbwr, racer or GT Legend.
For now I think to release car unavailable-but-sexy-or-freaky.

Mainstream bore me. I fail to get excite about acid green vinyl on another ford or bmw.

Download count isn't a subject.

But among ufo: Aerovette, Boomerang, Bravo, Carabo, Marzal, Berlinetta speciale or among classics: a98, b8, mk6 gt, breadvan, 3000me, bagheera or among classic and ufo: xp mantis, discovolante amuse me a lot more.
Sorry if I disappoint someone.

It wouldn't even bother me if I had to go there with a ugly mainstream car.

The road looks narrow, can you expect oncoming traffic? I wouldn't wanna drive there with your ufo cars.

Today the road is closed.

It was a crazy play field for mini cooper S, innocenti detomaso turbo, abarth A112 ....
There, drifting means the end of the trip. Even the GTIs, like Golf or 205, didn't feel comfortable and my little yoghurt pot turbo humiliated a BMW M3 on this road.
The poor guy vomited at the top. I was young and stupid.
About traffic with was very poor, most of the time you can see far from you and there are headlights in tunnels, and the acoustic was very good.

Sometime, after a serious rain, I took my car only for the pleasure to drive under a waterfall.

The next step will be the showroom, just before the release.

To have that on Vercors mountain, would be a dream come true.

Let's dream smaller and enjoy it in nfs4 on Rocky pass.

The 'Jota' may be better, but the looks of the '66 Miura are much better i.m.o.

is the W2 better looking than the W8?
is the p1800 banana bumper better looking than p1800 right bumper?

Anyway, the Miura exists on The crew, Driver, Forza Horizon & Motorsport, Asseto Corsa, Asphalt 8, Gran Turismo Sport, NFS World, Real Racing 3 ....etc
and I released it 12 years ago on High stakes, but it isn't immune to a blow of polish. ;)

Iota is the Bob Dallara broken dream, like the W2 is the Gerald Wiegert broken dream.

You're right, it's pretty useless to argue about looks. But when Bertone designed the car they probably had not the spoilers/wings in mind.

I understand the early Miura had problems at high speed (lifting off) so the later versions had to be safer.

Cardesigners are not often happy about facelifts of their cars. They have to make sacrifices for costs and safety.

Just like you have to deal with the limitations of nfs4.

Technically, it's a kind of Gr4. Larger, lighter, hell faster ... etc

Wow! It looks amazing again!
But although I know that it is not really correct on the original Jota car, I would love to see the roof spoiler from the "resto-SVJ" as a convertible option. It brings variety and looks supercool ;)
Title: Re: Last rides with high stakes
Post by: Butch on Jun 28, 2023, 8:52 AM
SVJ have air intakes in the side sills, rectangular rear lights, custom rims, only one tank cap, grill like alfa 33 stradale behind the rear wheel ....

it's an iota-style make-up with free exhaust for the show-offs ::)

Once is not custom and it will spend more time, but I can add 2 upgrades the classic Miura I mean:

1 Miura P400 (update of my miura (https://www.nfsaddons.com/downloads/nfshs/cars/lamborghini/2098/lamborghini-lamborghini-miura.html))
2 Miura P400 SVJ ( 3D  mix between P400 and Iota)
3 IOTA (my current WIP)

Or I can release 3 cars but it will use many serial numbers.

..... did I say it will spend more time.

Title: Re: Last rides with high stakes
Post by: Cooya! on Jun 28, 2023, 2:56 PM
I myself don´t care much about upgrades for NFS4... as addon cars simply don´t fit the standard career mode and you still lack a 4th version to complete all upgrades...

So I would say: "Go for all three versions as a standalone!" ;)

...But in my completely subjective opinion: the original Jota concept and the 5 factory lookalike builds based on the "SV" called "SVJ" ("J" for "Jota") look soooo damn similar that I would see no use in having them both in the game at the same time. So I would make some kind of a "chimera" of it and would rather add all the SVJ features that makes the cars different as the convertible option. That would be the roof wing, the middle part of the front spoiler, the air intakes of the sideskirt and the bigger taillights and would live with the fact that the rear grill is a little different. So you have the original Jota car but the oportunity to switch to the SVJ as convertible option. I just loooove this option in NFS4 as it is a pretty unique feature that makes a full grid of same-car-opponents look so diverse ;)

I just noticed the Lancia Stratos from Butch had popup headlights which are visible in the dashview. It's the first and only time I've seen that working correctly in nfs4.

Always when I try to do that, the lightboxes are transparant.

I saw In the dash.fce the part is called: F_LDASH LIGHT.

I want to add this feature to Butch's Ghibli, Corvette dash.

Edit: Just found out his Toyota 2000gt also has this work correctly.

Title: Re: Last rides with high stakes

The method is to multiply the mesh in the same part until the it lost its transparency. In the toyota.
The popup light is duplicated 5 or 6 time in the dashlight part.
It's an old crazy bastard method. ;)

Title: Re: Last rides with high stakes

Butch said: "multiply the mesh in the same part"

A bit off topic I'm afraid.

I opened the dash.fce and dash.tga of the Stratos in fcefinish and did this:

1: Searched for the place where the texture came from which colored the lightboxes.

2.Copied the texture from Stratos dash.tga to my .tga using paint.net

3. Selected these textures for my lightboxes.

The result "in game" was not satisfying. It was  better but still transparant.

Tried to multiply layers and made it darker but it was only slightly better.

Your 'old bastard trick' is yet a mystery to me.
Title: Re: Last rides with high stakes
Post by: Butch on Jul 02, 2023, 3:24 AM
In "old bastard trick" the main word is "old". I made these car two decades ago, so I re-install all of them last night and open the mesh in my modeler.
The popup light of the stratos is made with 18 polygones but the :F_LDASH light has 162 polygone so I placed 9 times the popup light mesh in this part. Today, I would multiply 10 times.

Thank you.

The colors comes from Zmodeler (chevrolet Camaro I think), they will be replace in a historical spirit. Three kind of colors are planned: Body/side skirt (silver#gold#black)/optional front and top spoiler (black#body).
I have to rework the rear. I will add some details (dampers) in the hole around the exaust and reduce the size of the rear light.
And of course the normal and polish will be tuned in FCE Finish.

My old P400 will be upgrade like the Jota with an accurate dashboard.

Have a nice week end.

You are able to get the normals so nice using FCEfinish? You have many 'old bastard’' tricks I suppose.

That 'two tone' color (just like the old P400 actually) will look great. I also noticed the taillights were rather big , good to see you're working on it.

Good luck with the project(s)

Sorry but I am not too sure if I like this upgrade... The polycount is almost doubled at some parts but the placement looks much "cleaner" (or better: more considered) on the lowpoly variant... especially the two bumps on the engine cover look pretty rough right now.

What I really like is the new shape of the radiator grille. It looks much closer to the original car now. *thumbup
What I really dislike is the new shape of the headlight covers. they were much closer to the original car before in my eyes.

Marzal, Manta, Boomrang, Bravo, Aerovette and Berlinetta Special are in my plans because without dash, their modelisation need a fistful of hours.
A serious update of my oldest and ugliest cars are also planned (DBS, Austin Healey ...).
Finally, I have few old dream around the 60' decade (A98 coupe, Lola mk6 GT..).

Am I right to think NFSCars has a flat electro-encephalogram ?

Guys, i am searching for a Peugeot Proxima for HS. Does anybody still have it? I can remember i installed one a decade ago and drove it on Rocky Pass. I want it back. Unfortunately i seem to not have saved it from being dead. I hope somebody has it.

Reply for pete9516.

In the case of this ferrari, the design is rather simple.

Around 6 hours were needed on Lightwave to create the body and the wheel, with the uvmaps. Each part had its own material: (:HB :OC :HLFW ...). Paintshop Pro is the software I use to make the car0.tga texture. After saving, I export it in 3DS format. Carcad allows me to convert 3DS car to FCE file and FCE Center make the FCE import in Zmodeler always successful.

I use Zmodeler:
- to mirror the car, to create normals, and to adjust the name of the parts (carcad add 16 space in the name of each part). The fixing of the conversion mistake.
- to add drivers :OD and :OH part from another car.
- to center pivot and adjust part.
It spents around 30 mn.

The viv file was created in NFS wizard. For the berlinetta speciale, I duplicated the modulo. Ten minutes later, (the time to change name, serial numbers.) .. it's the first try in the game.
I use FCE finish to add lights and licence plate, to adjust the normals and to choose colors. It spent one hour because it's a very simple body.
Another FCE center pass because FCE finish use to bury the car.
And after one, two or three upload on NFS addons, you and a fistfull of old school game lover can download it

This ferrari was made in 9 hours.
The carabo spents 17 hours.
Both are 100% new.

The modelisation of dashboards spends 3 times more time. I have never understood why certain distant polygons appear in front and require me to separate the meshes in parts to erase the overlaps.

Post by: noise on Oct 28, 2023, 6:29 AM
Creating normals in Zmod and adjusting them in fcefinish.?

Often when I open a car in fcefinish the normals get mixed up. I am able to adjust the normals for flat surfaces, but rounder things like fenders is hard.

In Zmod you need to detach the parts that needs the normals fixed. I very rarely succeeded.

Ferrari is released. Go get it!

(Sorry for upload issues Butch)
Title: Re: Last rides with high stakes
Post by: Butch on Oct 28, 2023, 6:48 AM
After the carcad conversion the fce file has no normal, the mesh is black, so I "calculate" them to see the material.
In FCE finish, the normals are reset. I select flat zone, doors, and I "group" them. So each points in the edge between two groups have two normals and reflections become more accurate. Finally, there is a tool which re-weld polygone.

Thank you LRF Modding

Never seen such option in fcefinish, what is flatzone?
Title: Re: Last rides with high stakes
Post by: Butch on Oct 28, 2023, 12:15 PM
Sorry for my English, I'm french. I call flatzone a set of triangles which make up a more or less flat body panel: a door, a roof, etc.
I'm working on my old Triumph TR4. Do you want me to screenshot every steps from Lightwave to the game ?
Title: Re: Last rides with high stakes
Post by: noise on Oct 28, 2023, 1:52 PM
Sorry for my English, I'm Dutch. But(ch) I understand you now.

Flatzones I can adjust too, but you seem to get the rounder parts also correct. Does that happen in Zmod?

And great you look at the productioncars now. The Triumph TR's need some better proportions I think.
Title: Re: Last rides with high stakes

Yes it is. My old TR4 was caricature. The car I made for GT Legends was far more accurate.

Are you working on a dashview?
Title: Re: Last rides with high stakes
Post by: Butch on Dec 12, 2023, 1:42 AM
The dashview means 3 times of work more with less fun. Today I spend half an hour, in the evening on these cars. I couldn't release a car with dashboard before Xmas.
The download count, the comments .... I'm uploading my cars for fifty people. It's a kind of easy virtual model car collection for an old man who remind himself some cars everyone forgot.
Things were more serious when the 250GTO were download 40000 times on a dozen websites (NFS Design, NFSstreetdogs, TotalNFS, NFS Bolide...) or when "Butch team's cars" were used on simracing  GTLegend leagues.

Now that i've read this post again, i have to say the following: I think it's sad that everybody plays his own mods. There should be something like a modpack which changes after some months, so different mods are played. I've done something like this on the Retro Racing Point Discord Server, but unfortunately only me, DrSpeed sometimes and TsTg do play it (Ronny, too, sometimes). People should get together in online lobbies again. Maybe there should be a thread in the forums here. But people should be willing to play other people's mods. Another problem ofcourse is the copyrights on some mods. Well all i want to say is that if you like to play random mods sometimes, there's a complete modpack (cars & tracks) waiting for you at the Retro Racing Point server under nfs-4-high-stakes-mods channel.

I confess I haven't time for playing online, but support these kind of things.

On my little french car, I still have the exaust to add, few details in the texture, and the dashboard (inside view) to make.
Anyway, I will stay under the 5000 triangles.

Amazing work again!
There are just two things that bother me a bit:

-Your A310 looks a bit like an offroad car with the wheels a tiny tad too large and the car sitting too high over the ground for this reason. It´s a sportscar... so it should be lowered ;)

-The embroided lettering "ALPINE RENAULT" in the rearspoiler looks strange... there are indeed very few cars with these spoilers to be found in the internet but normaly there should be a white "RENAULT ALPINE" decal in a black area below the spoiler with the correct Renault font.

And maaaayybe you should consider painting some bodylines to the doors as on this car you really can´t see the doors at all ;)

This is the "highest" car i could find. I think the height of the body relating to the rims are just right. They may be a bit lower but i like the model already. Though Cooya! is right about the door lines

This is beautiful! Thank you very much for all the nice cars you bring to NFS4 to make this game more and more special.  :)
And although I can´t wait to see you finish the cars you already have in your pipeline like the Aston Martin Bulldog and the Monteverdi Hai you should definitely consider making more french sports cars ;)
maybe something like a Ligier JS2 or a MVS Venturi... the beautiful Simca 1200s Coupé, a Matra Djet or a Racecar like the Matra MS630 V12?  :D
Title: Re: Last rides with high stakes
Post by: Butch on Feb 08, 2024, 3:59 PM
you play on the patriotic string. The mvs venturi is a very good car and my matra jet can drive from GT Legend. The Talbot Lago T14LS could be a good bmw 507 opponent.

The MS630  would mean another collection: Alpine A220, ford p68, Marcos xp mantis, alfa 33 ... Time is missing.

Ok. The very beginning of the bulldog.

Butch went from 'crazy French' to 'lonesome modder'

I hope it's not to be taken all that seriously.

"Patriotic string"........Citroen DS, is it still possible?

I like the '70 concepts but only 1 or 2 were made, (lonesome). But I love classics like a DS (mass produced and beautifully crazy)

Title: Re: Last rides with high stakes

Noise -> from the 70 I though about the Aerovette, Maserati Boomerang, Lamborghini Bravo, Ferrari Rainbow, Mercedes C111.

Spectre -> The Matra Djet, well things are a bit complicated: I made 4 cars with high polycount and serious dashboards (https://www.racedepartment.com/downloads/rene-bonnet-djet-aerodjet-matra-djet-v-ms610.23269/).
My heart beats for the MS610 which became a prototype because the car was gave up. The Idea was to put a lotus Twin-Cam engine in a Matra Jet (wider and longer wheelbase). The car ran a "Tour de Corse" and a "Criterium des Cevennes".

I feel less lonesome. Thank you guys.

In Holland we call the DS a "pike". I admit I don't think it's pretty looking. But there's something about that car. The Matra Djet has also odd proportions i.m.o.  Ahhh well do what you like, I'm already happy to see a new release. Something to look forward to.

Regarding the design, there are three versions.
- Peter Monteverdi said he designed the car.
- Some people affirm the design comes from Fissore.
- Finally Pietro Frua was supposed to be its designer.

Aerovette....., it took me a while to find info about it. GM showed this around 1976, it's a mid-engined Corvette.

The current C8 proves that David R. McLellan, who canceled the Aerovette program, was wrong. The mid-engine is not a betrayal.

Today i've created an own cop.fce out of an existing driver model from a Dodge Charger Police. Then i watched AJ's mapping tutorial and another one for Blender. This gave me an idea of what you do once some month. It is very impressive and i think i can speak for the community that we're all glad that you're still creating cars for nfs4

"The last long ride of the lonesome modder"

Nice movie/book/song title  ;)

Did you feel rejected in the past?

I remember the complaints of modders like Psychedelicrock (Fabian....he ended his ride :-\) and Mecha about respectless people who steal their work or give bad comments. I never noticed anything like that in your modding-years.

Only that your Ford gt40 was kinda stolen by Jokinen. I don't know that much about your gt--legends time. Or the other designs as kcendra.

I still remember your old website where all your cars (nfs3/nfs4) were rotating. You were less conversational back then.

(I think 'from scratch or nothing was always your credo)

It's good to have creative people around.

Thank you.

noise -> The only trouble I had was with Rfactor community. At the beginning, GT Legend had only 2 addons cars rather perfectible. Their authors gave up the game and turned on Rfactor. A game with the same graphic engine and with many modders. I asked few of them some advices and they told me I was a nuts to mod on GT Legend. I didn't give up and ScottC decided to honor me with his immense talent as a physical model setter, and DuckFreak took care of the sound, big sound. Later, Greg became my partner in crime. I still haven't come to terms with the rotten reception I received in that game.

Cooya! -> The 3000ME would be fun but today the polycount is around 18500 triangles. see below ..

and I have some other project to create before.

Title: Re: Last rides with high stakes
Post by: noise on Jun 12, 2024, 2:49 PM
I hope you get rid of the grudges, and work more peacefully for nfs4.

The AC 3000ME is a cool car i.m.o. But nothing is cooler than a Cobra I guess. So the 3000ME wasn't successfull.

It's a real pity that High Stakes almost can't stand 18k poly models.. The game itself supports it by now, but not the engine

I could sum up everything I like about AC A89 and all Butch's releases but that's a long and boring story I suppose.

So here's a list of things I don't like.

-Both the Shelby Cobra Daytona and the AC Le Mans have plain black tyres.

-Dax Rush (tasteless replica of the Lotus)

In my defense, Your Honor, both cobras (427 and Daytona) and the AC coupe have the same tires.
An update of these elements is planned, but it's a tricky job that requires fine-tuning on 3 textures while keeping to a reasonable polycount.

The Dax Rush was commissioned by an owner of this car. I don't like it either.

I plead not guilty.

@Butch: there's room in the .tga for some tyre-texture, but because it's 512x512 it gives a blurry result 'in game'. I hope you can manage it.

This is the little cousin with its V8, left hand wheel and specific rims.
I haven't found any picture of this car with headlights open, so I modelised like every other popup light from this time and this designer. I know popup light like opel GT or xj220 would be more beautiful, but the modulo, the berlinetta speciale and the Fiat Abarth 2000 Scorpio proved that Pininfarina was a specialist in ridiculous pop-up lights.
Title: Re: Last rides with high stakes

Beautifull cars.

The Alfa 33 is a concept, big chance the light covers hide nothing.

I keep looking at the taillights, they look so familiar (Fiat/Ferrari?)

Title: Re: Last rides with high stakes
Post by: Cooya! on Jun 29, 2024, 6:21 AM
The taillights are indeed familiar: they should be borrowed from a BMW 2000CS/ E9 without the chrome trim.
But it is true that there is not a single picture of the headlights to find in the world wide web. I think you have to make something up that just looks plausible.. it´s always talk about "pop up headlights" so that will probably be the solution. I would think that there is one round headlight hiding under the cover.. something similar to the "Adams Probe16" car ;)

How could I miss the Probe16 car,I had never heard of it.

The taillights of the Alfa 33 also look like the ones on sixties Maserati Quattroporte.

A new version of you Ferrari "Daytona" makes me happy  :)
I wasn't sure if you would ever remake your classic as you normally don't build cars that were already made by someone else... and Bodie's Daytona isn't too bad. But your's already look much smoother and closer to the original so I don't mind the ultimate rendition of this classic... And your Miura needs some serious competition. Keep up this fantastic work and with enriching our favorite game with cars that you can hardly drive in any other racing game! Thank You!

Yes! That's exactly what I meant. It looks much more realistic now.
...Maybe just a little too realistic and too fine for the old NFS4 engine as these lines will flicker as hell with every graphic setting.
I would make the pattern less "fine" and would set the lines much further apart and then I would lower the contrast and make the lines more transparent... you just have to fiddle around with the texture a bit to get a satisfying result. NFS4 doesn't make it easy.

There's a german Sprichwort: "Der Teufel steckt im Detail" I'd reshape it to "Der Cooya! steckt im Detail" just for the fun. But in the end, the input Cooya is looking for is really worth it. The texture looks really good but Cooya is right, it needs less transparency. But maybe it just looks like that due to the missing anti-aliasing in the pictures

Post by: Cooya! on Nov 06, 2024, 1:10 PM
As I tell you everytime you release a car: I love it! This is by far the best Ferrari Daytona for pretty much every NFS game ever made.
...But this time I just can rate it a 9/10 because of 4 little flaws that triggered me:

- The normals of the rims are still messed up
- The headlight's diffusor glass has this little annoying mapping error with one line missing between the lights
- The headrests of the seats are flying. If don't want to make the connection to the seat to save polies.. then please just set them to the lowest position possible
- There seem to be a electrical error in the fuses forcing the indicator lights to glow when the lights are turned on. There shouldn't be any orange glowing light dummies ;)

But that's it... it is pretty much an almost perfect car. Thank you soooo much!

Just checked the car 'in game', I see what Cooya! means...he's picky ;)

First thing I noticed the wheels are rather big, but maybe it's me.

The hood shows color difference, try blue and it shows. Could be smoothing Group thing.

Great to see a dash, it's nice but the dials are unsharp.

....Ohh I'm picky too ;)

Both Cooya! and I admire his work.

This is a discussion-forum and in this case a carmaker shows his project (o.k. this one is released already) and wants feedback I suppose. If this bothers Butch I'm sure he's capable of telling us.

What noise said...  ;)
I am only picky when I really really care about something. Usually I download a car and put it in my collection without a word... But when I am totally in love with a masterpiece like this Daytona - probably one of the best addon cars for NFS4 EVER - then I get triggered by little flaws you can fix to make it absolutely perfect. Sorry for that. It wasn't my intention to put Butch's work down... it's meant to be constructive critic in case of he just oversaw a little mistake. As I already said: I absolutely adore this car.  :-*

Post by: Butch on Nov 08, 2024, 7:55 AM
I'm not down. Don't worry about that. It's always the same when you spend a lot of time on a car, you can miss certain mistakes because your eyes get used to them.

The GTB/4 will have a second update later on, which will allow it to survive the tsunami of converted cars :-X  or cars salvaged from NFSCars, as well as having an "In the air Tonight" version dear to nfsfan83.

The next knife in the drawer:

Don't you need a break Butch? Your next project was the Mangusta update wasn't it?, and now I see this Maserati. While you probably also have obligations as Walter Skinner.
Title: Re: Last rides with high stakes
Post by: Butch on Nov 08, 2024, 10:06 AM
The Mangusta, like the Daytona, is a heavy project with a dashboard. Of course, Walter Skinner has obligations. Today, he sent something to Agent Mulder.
But in between exchanges with the team, a concept car like the ones I've made only takes 2 or 3 hours to build.
Title: Re: Last rides with high stakes
Post by: MADMAN_nfs on Nov 08, 2024, 12:41 PM
Hey Walter,

you should try using smaller, optimized textures with 256x256 pixels more often. Larger textures can make sense for big liveries but mostly there is no real benefit with old NFS titles - in some cases even degrade quality. They tend to get blurry ingame.
For example I rescaled the dash texture of your new Ferrari 365 Daytona. Overall much sharper and dials have more detail. This is basically a dumb rescale with a graphic editor - if the texture gets optimized properly astonishing results are possible.

It's a nice car, even if I prefer the montage (Mclaren m6gt replica, Hardcastle & McCormick ...).

But the boomerang is close to another manta: the Bizzarrini Manta, also designed by Giugiaro, 2 years before the Maserati.

I don't know why, convertible function refuse to work.
The option is activated in fedata, the :OT part is good, but function is inactive in game.

I think the logo will be permanent.
Title: Re: Last rides with high stakes
Post by: Cooya! on Nov 29, 2024, 11:04 AM
May have something to do with the serial number of the car. Try to change it to a different number.. maybe of a car that has a convertible option by default ;)
Title: Re: Last rides with high stakes
Post by: Butch on Nov 30, 2024, 12:51 AM
5 differents serial numbers. No way with convertible option.
Title: Re: Last rides with high stakes
Post by: Cooya! on Nov 30, 2024, 2:01 AM
That's strange... I never experienced a problem like that before..  ???
Make sure the order of parts is correct... the ":OT" should be the at the last (lowest) position.. but at least should come after the ":HB"-part. And make sure the name ":OT" is written correctly without a blank space or a number Zero instead of a letter O and all in capitals...
Or is the function for car option grayed out in the players car menu? than maybe make sure the option "convertible=Yes" is activated in EVERY Fedata file.. at least in french language for you (german for me) and english for all the people arround here ;)

But the car looks fantastic with the large logos! I could live with them active always. ...What would bother me more is the fact that the number "77" on the driver's side B-pillar (in the air intake behind the drivers head) is still mirrored ;)
Title: Re: Last rides with high stakes
Post by: Butch on Nov 30, 2024, 3:22 AM
As I imported is last, it was on the lastest position and of course I've moved it after the :HB and at the first place.
If I rename it like the right mirror, the part appears in game. Maybe it's too small for an :OT part. Anyway I spent too much time on this problem.
I'll flip the 77 on the left side, create the damages and I'll upload it in this  NFSCars.net recycling avalanche.
An X-files agent knocks on my door.

The Trident shouldn't be an option anyway. One of the seven Maserati brothers designed the emblem (three brothers started the company)

It's quite big on this car I admit, and  somewhat over the top. But it's not a production car.
Title: Re: Last rides with high stakes
Post by: pete9516 on Nov 30, 2024, 7:43 AM
Butch, is it possible that the emblem is too close to the hood? You could try lifting it a bit and see if it starts to show up in the game

Quote from AJ:
-trailing space in part name
-fedata shenanigans (like using a bonus car or Ferrari F50's for example)

I'd suggest trying it on a fedata file from the Corvette or Camaro and see if that helps. Also it's interesting which car you used as a base car.viv

@Butch: Great Boomerang, love the interior. Don't know why, it just is :-\   :)

I think the side walls of the tyres are  to light. I checked the wheels and found out there's a thin line between tyres and rims which is colored to light also. I doesn't show nice in game.

Title: Re: Last rides with high stakes
Post by: Butch on Feb 19, 2025, 4:49 AM
To modelise the needle on 0.
To name the needles :F_MPH (0 to 0.5) :F_RPM (0 to 0.5)
To run on an easy track where you can reach the highest speed
To screenshot (alt-P) in the replay the top speed and the top RPM
To devide the top value from HUD by the cockpit value
To multiply the lastest number in the name value (here 0.5) by the result of the devide.
To rename the needles changing the lastest value by the multiply result.

Don't worry about the rim, I'm on it and I've planned on this:

(https://d16ufzn6wn6koq.cloudfront.net/images/Articles/jubil%C3%A4um-50-jahre-lamborghini-bravo/_2560xAUTO_crop_center-center_none/383951/1974-Lamborghini-Bravo-4.jpg)

They changed the them on the concept and finally used the Urraco silhouette rims. So holes are bigger and rim bed will be concave.

I'm talking about the type 00 which is a kind of type E_uthanasia for Jaguar. When you see it, the car looks like a 20 years old badly adjusted computer-generated image.

The true revolution for Jaguar would be to build them reliable.

There are many car designs I really don't like, but they helped car companies to survive. (SUV Porsches f.e.)

I can't imagine there is a market for that type00, but who knows.

Still, in my case, I always love any car that I see, whether they are failures or so. People these days need to give these kinds of cars a chance, even if they're not your cup of tea.

About the Jaguar Type-00, it's.....Unique. But the back of it should have been better. But alas, it has been conceived, so let's see what happens to it as time goes on. I will say it looks nice in teal, not pink.

Anyway, back to the Lamborghini Bravo, very beautiful!

All jaguars were elegant and sophisticated.
Here we have an audi concept car removed from mould too hot.

Anyway, the Lambo bravo is on the road to downloads.

Jaguars were indeed unique and recognisible. They had William Lyons and Malcolm Sayer.

Many car-designs have a history of going from one car company to another.
Look at all the Italian concepts, the Bravo could be a Lancia too.

About the released Bravo:

Very nice, I like the shadow effect on the louvres. And the rims are much better now.
The steering wheel has some black spots and transparant area's. (it's a concept😉)
There's an extra front wheel (hlfw0) b.t.w.

I enjoy this kind of car, like the Puma GT. There are few cars like that in my country: modest and charming. They aren't built with VW engine but Simca sport or Renault 8 Gordini. The trouble is there are 24 hours in a day and the number of place in my to do list is also limited. I made the last for GT Legend -> Albierbude (https://www.altbierbude.de/component/option,com_gtlreporter/Itemid,46/Mode,carlist/lang,de/?option=com_gtlreporter&Itemid=46&Mode=carlist&class=*&vehicle=Matra+Djet+Vs+1300cc&limit=25)
but I haven't planned to convert it.

WOW! It looks amazing! I am totally in love. And it seems like it is only missing a nice Aston-Martin emblem on front and rear to be ready for the road.

But ONE "issue" triggers me as hell: You show us this masterpiece in the correct colour to be Roger Moore's car in "The Persuaders"... And you know that he used this car in a metallic olive green shade with Talbot mirrors on both front fenders (:OC-Part?!? ;) ) as James Bond in "On Her Majesty's Secret Service"...
So... PLEEEEEAAAASE make it a right hand drive! Please please...  ;)

I completely forgot about the Aston Martin DBS. Looks wonderful!
Title: Re: Last rides with high stakes
Post by: Butch on Jun 16, 2025, 11:30 AM
Thank you all.

Lazenby's DBS in the James Bond film was an in-line 6-cylinder with wire wheels and retros on the front fenders.
Moore's in The Persuaders was a V8 with alloy wheels and door mirrors.

We're talking about two cars. That's going to put off the release of the V8 Vantage, especially as Agent Mulder has requested my presence at the FBI  for another X-file.

Butch, your previous release were those Mad Max cars. It's your turn now to release some solo-pieces  ;) . I want that V8 vantage, I like the nose/grill better.

After that big Aston I like to see the little Matra Djet.

The Matra Djet is cool, but the Matra P29 is wayyyyyy cooler.

I have several irons in the fire.

The joint project has already begun, and the Aston Martins are a long-term project with dashboards like the Ferrari Daytona, which has seen several other cars pass through its development.

Nice choice. I like the DBS a lot, too. We all like to see Butch at work i guess. And i have to agree Spectre, the P29 is totally lit

I confess I'm not fan of right hand drive.
Anyway these are V8 and 6 inline. New wire rims still need some tune, and I start the new dashboard.

What made you decide to put those racing style mirrors on the car? I didn't find pic's of that option.

It also looks better on the A pillar, like on the V8.

George Lazenby's James Bond car in "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" had the mirrors exactly that way... Butch recreated the movie car 101% accurate ;)
I looooove it!

@ Butch: Wow.. I was a second too late :D
I really like your need for accuracy. This car is soooo beautiful! ...My wish was only to have it right hand drive to pretend it is a Bond car... But now we get the real deal  ;)

@ noise: If you don't like these kind of mirrors: The other version with the V8 engine will be the car from "The Persuaders" with stock mirrors ;)

Comparing the real life image with your model, shouldn't the rear view mirrors be right above the wheels? Right between the hood air income and the fender trim strip? Besides that it looks absolutely astonishing

The DBS dashboard isn't easy to create, but I'm making progress.
Now I have enough datas to create the P29. It will be my next concept car.

It's a kind of caterham with a lot of composite material. The kind of technology used in helicopter starflex rotors.
