Basically, this. I hope you guys aren't having any problems. :(
This malware reporting thing is really unreliable. It's user-based so people may nuke harmless sites for shitty reasons.
Anyway, hi, it's been a long time. ;)
Im on my blackberry so does it count?
Yes budd,I just pmed. You that! :D 8)
I have been having the same thing for the past few weeks, and have been wondering if I was the only one - this is the first time I see anyone else mention it.
You meant this, right? https://blog.mozilla.org/security/2015/08/11/expanded-malware-protection-in-firefox/
It happens both in FF and Chrome, but not in Internet Explorer
Because I didn't know if it was just me, I had been wondering if this is somehow influenced by my browsing behavior (the same way google ads are different for everyone), but I haven't managed to figure that out yet.
One another topic: Whoa, you're back! Good to see you! :D

Technically I never "leave", I mean I still have NFSAddons bookmarked. :D But not much happens anymore so I don't visit often.
Does not happen in Opera, either.
Does IE even have such a feature?
And has either of you tried using an AdBlocker just to see if that changes anything?
I use Chrome and adBlocker, never saw the malware report.
I'm glad i haven't been having any probs.. Likei was last 2 months ago. Being knocked off. When posting 👺 😉
When I try to download nfs4 cars I still get a message in a orange window telling me the site is unsafe and contains harmfull programs.
I use windows 8 and chrome browser.
Hi Noise i use Firefox and Windows 8 with no problem. Re-check your anti-virus settings.Good luck.
Thnx it's o.k. now.
Good to hear noise
Google Chrome is going haywire in the downloads section. Some files, it plain refuses to allow me to download. :(
I know why this is happening. Some files in the download section have executable installers. Chrome scans these files and, just because they're executables, it flags them as malware. This has resulted in the WHOLE download section to be affected! So, whenever you click on a download button, Chrome gives you a warning that the website is a malware source (which is not true).
You can deactivate the Google nanny in the browser but unsuspecting users won't know what this is about and will be fooled by the false positive.
Well, i guess there is not much the nfsaddons.com staff could do about that. Except deleting all user uploads, that the google bot reports suspicious.
Site status can be checked here: Link (https://www.google.com/transparencyreport/safebrowsing/diagnostic/#url=www.nfsaddons.com)
Currently the page is displayed as "partly suspicious"
Blocked content and warning messages in Chrome are caused by Google Safe Browsing. Now you have to decide for yourself if you want to turn this feature off, or live with it.
How to disable Google Safe Browsing (https://www.whattechsays.com/turn-off-safe-browsing/)
edit:
you may also try to add www.nfsaddons.com to trusted sites like described here: Link (https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/chrome/BLOivjDTTW0)
You could also start using a proper browser :D SCNR.

Weren't you who favored Opera? I'm pretty sure it was someone in NFS community who guided me to it. Then I left Opera for some reason, I think it was because of incompatibility with MEGA or something.
I disabled the nanny now. :D I can browse freely now.
I do prefer Opera. Though I am considering Vivaldi now, the actual modern successor to the original Opera which has turned into a Chromium derivative.
But then again, to add some reason to my posts, the internet is becoming more and more 'dangerous'.
I mean - the number of new malware released everyday, how elaborate phishing mails can be or the ways malware may be distributed... so to some degree, the nannying is good as long as you can deactivate when you know what you're doing. For example, I think it's great how Firefox keeps pushing back the anachronistic Flash plugin.
You're right, Nils. :)
I heard good things about Vivaldi, myself. Might be the way to go, since Opera wasn't cutting it anymore. Chrome is nice, but it's ugly and it's from Google which is really intrusive. :(
Good thing is that we can choose, at least. :D
I haven't had this error occur. Oh and BTW, I am back. Kinda. Sorta. Maybe.
Probably.
I am happy to report, that after a long battle with Googles robots, the site is now marked as a safe site :)
There were some false-positive malware reports inside of a lot of the downloads, mainly the NFS UG2 cars, because of the .exe files inside required for installation. Cleaned those up and we should be good to go.
If you see any more errors, let me know!
That's CooL Mike glad to know all this now. 8)

Just curious, have you edited the respecting files somehow or deleted them completely?

That's an accurate gif lol
I manually edited all the files and replaced NFS-CfgInstaller with a new version that doesn't have the "false positive" issue of being detected as malware. That took care of most of them. There were a couple files that I couldn't verify as being "clean", so I just removed them from the site. I don't think they were ever approved in the first place, but still got uploaded and were in the database

Oh, this is great news, how did you manage to find the exact files that triggered the malware reports? did you use a virus scanner of sorts to scan all the files on our server?
Like Zpectre suggested earlier, I worried that it was because of the exe files you see in certain mods, but had no idea how to even begin to locate the 'wrong' ones.
I was worried it would scare potential new visitors away, so I'm really glad you put in all that work, thanks a lot. :D

Google provided a list of some of the files that had issues, and I noticed it was 95% ug and ug2 files, so I downloaded and scanned all of them. After you fix it, you have to submit it for re-approval, and that takes 24-48 hours.. and half the time they'd return the same list, of files, even if I had renamed or deleted them. Maybea fter re-submitting enough times they finally trigger a re-scan
Yeah, it must have been the UG2 files, I tried to download an Underground 2 mod car from NFSCars earlier this week, and again my browser (FireFox) again cried out a malware warning. :( Guess we will have to think about that once someone upload another UG/UG2 file here again.
I'm glad you persisted with the re-submitting though, sounds pretty frustrating to do.
