Title: NFS Carbon Help Needed !!!!!!!!!
Post by: janakrajgupta on Nov 13, 2006, 10:02 PM
First of all I'm an NFS Enthusiast, played all its installments, I bought NFS Carbon (Regular) a few days back, but the in game graphics is real low, just like NFS HP. Where as I had brilliant performance NFS MW on my PC. My Hardware Config:

P4HT @ 3GHz with 800MHz FSB @ 2MB L2 Cache
Intel D101GGC Motherboard (Latest BIOS has been installed)
ATI X300 Onboard Graphics (PCI-E) with 256MB DDR & 400MHz RAMDAC (Latest Drivers Installed: ATI Catalyst 6.10)
2GB DDR RAM @ 333MHz + 672MB Paging File on C:\
80GB Seagate Hard Drive @ 7200RPM
Asus CB-5216A DVD/CD-RW Drive (16X/52X52X24X)
Direct X 9.0c Final
Windows XP Pro with SP 2

But still the game is lagging in graphics, it's not that its crashing or taking huge time to load. Motion Blur can't be activated as it is greyed. The in-game video options are:

Res: 800 X 600
V-Sync: On
Anti-Aliasing: 4X
Shader Detail: High
World Detail: High
Road Reflection Detail: High
Car Geometry Detail: High
Car Reflection Detail: High
Visual Treatment: High
Motion Blur: Off (Greyed, Can't be enabled)
Particle System: On

Is the Graphics Engine of the game is really low??? I'm feeling pissed off right now.

Can anybody give me some graphic tweaks or Optimizers like the one we have for NFS MW in this site????????

well, my pc rivals yours, and I have all options on.. turn off VSync., upgrade your video away from onboard, thats why you're complaining about resource lag.  shit.  Mine has been flawless in gameplay.

Try using NVidia GeForce 6200.
But I don't like the motion blur feature:), it makes Graphics in game looked bad

the motion blur is really lame, and in canyon mode you cant see anything anymore with that.

hmm thats kinda odd.
i have a P4 2.4ghz, 512mb RAM, Dont know wxactly my FSB. I think i have 533.
And a ATI Radeon 9200 SE (piece of junk) Runs Perfectly.

But on some cards the AGP Speed must be changed on the BIOS, from 8x to 4x or from 4x to 2x.
That solves some problems with some graphic cards.
Make sure also that the Graphic Card is not Overclocked; Bad Tweaked, Burned, or if you have changed any config from the graphic card Software.
VSync in most cases should be off.
other idea is to change the main EXE file to a cracked one to run without the CD. (This one i dont usually advice, but it fixed some problems on some games i have)
Hope some of these help you out.

DigitalDark, your computer basicly sucks :p
you need at least a gig of ram...your cpu is old and the gfx card...i dont have a clue about Ati's, your fault you got one :)
oh and...PCI-e is the go!

@janakrajgupta: look here for how the game looks in full details: http://www.nfsaddons.com/forums/viewtopic.php?id=183

i dunno how to help you right now, did u install new drivers for the card? and get a real gfx card. not an onboard thingy.

You can always go re-race old races, I think.

But each race only gives you $500... By the time I get the 1mil, I'd end up looking like this: :eek3:

I got AMD Atlon XP 3000+, 1Gb DDR, ATI X800XT, WD 32Gb HD and i was having trouble with graphics lagging (big slowdowns, graphic stutering even in the lowest res with lowest settings) when cornering and after trying this and that I changed the AGP setting in Catalyst driver - PCI Write off, restarter computer,  then starter the game in her Safe mode so it could recognize new setting, and then game was smooth in max with 1024x768 res.

It would seem that the game is not fully optimizing AGP taffic but doing some traffic on the PCI part of it so it could lead to overall lower performance.

Probably the software developers are trying to turn people with solid computer with AGP over to PCI-E by every means so the hardware industry could profit from upgrades.

see, i think the game is totally written for PCI-E. i noticed people with PCI-E have less probs with bad FPS in NFS:Carbon. oh and...your HDD...wow...i couldnt even install 2 games on that :/

what I don't understand is why my need for speed carbon seems to have stutter adn very minor slowdown on the highest settigns fo everything, i'm running on twin 512 mb ati radion x1600 pci express crossfires, unfortunately I only have 1 gig of ddr2 ram, and about a 2.5 gig processor..

any ideas on that?

For more money, when you start the game only buy 3 cars, sometimes even two depending on what cars you like. if your finished try rival crew challenges they will give you 1k each win, to easily get one, i find that taking a car adn ramming a bunch of pedestrian cars of the road in the game will get one quickly for me.. :)
