Oh, it's out? Cool! I love the Christmas tree, presents and all. ::)
Very cool preview movie too (how did you record those flying through the air parts?)

So, is this the final version or do you plan to work more on it? Also, you are welcome to upload your tracks here too, if you want. Just saying.  :)

Hello,
I tested the track on another pc and noticed issues with some textures. It seems like very small textures are not correctly rendered using directx. Thats why some trees have odd shadows in them for example (see picture). I did not notice that because when running the game on the 3dfx-glide API everything is fine. I'll correct that and upload a fixed x-mas version.

@Remko:
I uploaded track here on 25th december - the message stated upload was successful ... so i wasnt concerned --> will upload it again
The aerial camera recordings were made using the "Traffic Police Helicopter" by FB-Mayne. Its not controlable in the air though but you get some pretty nice pictures.  ;)

@Rafel:

QuoteThat's my system:
Retrogaming PC (barebone): MSI G41M-P25, Pentium E5700 dual core, 4 GB RAM, Radeon HD 5450 (low Profile).
I run the game on Win 7 x86 Home Premium and DirectX 7 Highpoly car patch from SP.
I tested with only MB SL 500 by NJ220, that it's low poly and the same problem. The track loads very quickly, without loading screen and if loading screen appears the game crashes.
It's very strange because I use your other enhanced tracks without any problem.

I run the game via directx on a Win7 x86 system. The only way i could reproduce your problem is to delete the texture file (Tr0.qfs).
How did you install the track? You used the NFS Mixer or you put files in manually? Please check that all files in track folder are present (compare them with the original files on your High Stakes CD).
If the problem persists, try to change the directx version in 3d setup or use glide (via emulator).

Greetings.

PS: im using Firefox 26 btw - the attachments seem to disappear sometimes

Yeah, sorry about that, for some reason that didn't get through, - I could see there was an upload, but there were no name, file or images.  :( This has happened with Tracks in the past before, I'm not sure what causes it. I'll try to see and find out what's up.
Oh, and thanks for the heli, a pretty fun mod that I didn't know about.

Ok, i uploaded a fixed version on dropbox --> "Snowy Enhanced X-Mas (DxFix).rar"
Link is on youtube (see my first post)

I tried to upload here again but i get error codes this time. When i click Upload-SelectGame-FileType i get the page on pic#1 with Notice in upper right corner of screen. After completing upload i get the page on pic #2.  ???

I tried this with Internet Explorer 8 and Firefox 26.0  :-\   Any ideas?

Hi Madman, I've been doing a few upload tests myself (one of those accidentally ending up on the front page - derp :-[ ), and the only time I got that same error, was when I tried to upload the big Rar file with your track in it, so I think it has to do with the file size.

I got no problem with uploading a small (2 mb) file, but it seems the upload script chokes on the full 15 mb of your .rar. I'm not saying there's something wrong with your file, it just seems as if there's a limit of sorts - or maybe it just times out during the wait for the full upload  (in the past this was rarely a problem as tracks seldomly exceeded 5 mb in size - except JP Racing's Urban Germany maybe)

Hope we'll be able to fix it, to be continued. :-\

Alright, inform me when the script is fixed.
Or maybe i can send you the files and you put them up manually without using the script?

I've been thinking of that, but unfortunately I have no other way besides the standard upload system, so I have no way around this issue right now either. :|
Sorry again, we'll try and get your track up here ASAP.

It must be my graphic card.
I did a format to my retrogaming PC, i did a clean install, i used all DX, Nglide and Zechesanck's, stock cars, mod cars, only myself, only one rival and always the same issue.

Found a way to upload the track after all, so come and get it at:

Thanks to MADMAN_nfs for sharing, and apologies that we weren't able to offer it in time for Christmas, as you meant to. Glad it's here now.  :)

I just tried this version an had no problems. :)

I love all your enhanced tracks. You make nothing worse, all changes are nice improvements. The textures fit perfectly in the tracks atmosphere. Great !

Small info-update on Snowy Enhanced.

Final track release will be delayed further.

Doing corrections and 'fine-tuning' (especially on the trees) is alot more work than initially thought.  :-\
Plan was to calculate tree shaders (at least the trees that are lighted by the sun) with Nappe/JimD's shadow raytracer. I experimented with many different values but finally i figured the ultimate problem is that the genarated shaders have no color, unlike the default shaders of snowy which have a blueish touch.
This uncolored shadows dont fit in the track... so i would have to retrayce the whole track - but thats an atmospheric killer imo.
So i have to work with shaded polies from the track and thats really laborious work.

Other things have been accomplished successfully. For example the LOD3 (mirror) bug at the donut shop has been fixed.

I started working on the night version too.

Good to see that you're still working on it. Night version certainly sounds interesting. :)

When your shadows lack color, what about helping them a bit with saturated textures?

Hey,
doing this for the whole track would be a tremendous amount of work. Additionally you will never achieve the same look and color gradients.
Shaded polygons are very important for the atmosphere/feeling of a track and are highly underestimated.
